My car is on the train to Oregon according to the dealer. Predicting transit times with the holidays for workers and excess package delivery is tough.

Didn't you say earlier that your TPW was in January?

I just spoke to my dealer, and my bolt (tpw 11/28) is arriving in Mira Loma on 12/22, and they will try to get it to their dealership in orange County before Xmas. I assume Mira Loma is where deliveries for socal dealers are dropped at before local delivery.

I find it odd that if I order a $10 chew toy for my yellow lab, I can track it's shipping progress from NY to CA precisely. But if I order a $40,000 car, I get vague emails saying " your shipping process has started ", and my dealership has my car listed " in transit ". This seems a little incongruous to me.

It sure is. They know more than they tell us, the question is why they don't feel like they can keep their customers better informed.

You should get a kick out of this.

Ha. I salute his obsessional behavior. It's healthier than smoking, anyway.

Chevy tells me as of today that my car is in transit. I had no idea that I could pester my dealership for a rail car number. Uh-oh.

I suspect the cars were held in the OH lot until the first "official deliveries" and PR. The owners that got them were notified 2 weeks in advance of the exact date, but sworn to secrecy. Since that's out of the way and the dealer demos are delivered in (N?) California, they have released the cars for use "average Joe's".

God, I hope you are right. That means I might get my car by the end of the year.

Feeling a bit less optimistic as of today. Chevy told me on Friday the car had been released to the carrier and is in transit to the distribution center but my dealership says they saw it as still bayed. Asking how long it typically takes from departure to arrival, I was told around ten days. With nine business days left on the calendar, it doesn't look too good for a 2016 delivery.

What's odd to me is, I went to my dealer and looked over his shoulder (he let me) as he searched the order system.

On one line it said "Quality Check Complete 12/14/16."
On another line it said "TPW 1/2/17".

So dealers don't know jack and apparently Chevy HQ isn't much better!

(And for reasons like this they probably have incentive to share as little as possible. Look at it as "no info is better than wrong info".

Yeah that is pretty disappointing. When I ordered my Mini in 2002 I was able to see when it came off the assembly line, when it was taken to the port, when it got on the ship, and (separately, by monitoring the shipping company) was able to determine the exact day it rolled off. Here we are 14 years later and I can't find out when a car that they've already made is going to get here from freaking Michigan.

I suspect we're all stuck in Quality Control hell right now as Chevy wants to make sure these cars are rock solid before selling them. Mine was built on 11/23. A co-workers was the week of 11/14. Both of ours are still listed as Bayed, possibly in quality control.

Hi, new member here, put a deposit down on an "abandoned" LT order last week to replace our 2011 Leaf. So far I have not been able to get a great deal of info from the dealer. Other local dealers in Portland are starting to have cars appear on the Chevy website's online inventory search page, but I'm assuming these are cars that are already sold. Any tribal knowledge on whether that usually happens? We are of course hoping to close before year end to have a bit more flexibility on the lease/buy question, given the current political climate I don't want to go into a 2017 purchase assuming the $7500 tax credit will still exist by filing time of 2018...

I would call some of the Portland dealers. I see Wilsonville is listing their Bolts as no longer in transit.

I don't think the state of Washington has updated their list of sales tax exempted cars yet to include the Bolt. So you might want to verify that too.

Reducing or eliminating the Federal Tax Credit would take an act of Congress. While possible, it is extremely unlikely that they would make it retroactive to purchases made prior to their changing the Tax Code.

The Washington laws have changed and there is no longer an official list. It simply states that the car must be able to be plugged in and that its base price before options is $42,500 or less. It is then exempt from state sales tax. This was put in place as of July 1, 2016 and will be available to the first 7500 takers.

The Bolt and most other non-Tesla EVs and plug-in hybrids meet this criteria.

Could be right, it's so difficult to know. My dealership thinks my ordered car is still bayed, while Chevy say it's been released to the shipper. Why this is so difficult to know is the question nobody who can answer is answering.

I've been looking at the VINs of some of the cars listed as "in transit," and most if not all of them are higher numbers than mine and therefore were probably built after mine (assuming the last digits of the VIN are assigned sequentially). No idea what that means. Just throwing it out FWIW.

Exemptions—Vehicles using clean alternative fuels and electric vehicles, exceptions—Quarterly transfers. (Contingent expiration date.)

(f) The department of licensing must maintain and publish a list of all vehicle models qualifying for the sales tax exemption under this section until the expiration of the exemption as described in subsection (6) of this section.

Oh, shoot, you are right! My mistake. The other law read like there was no longer a list.

Well, the Bolt is not on it, however, there is a note somewhere that the list is updated every 6 months, which would be Jan 1. So, maybe it is better to get the Bolt in 2017 after all????

The Bolt meets all the requirements.

If a Washington state resident wanted to buy a Bolt today , I would just contact the department of licensing and make sure there isn't going to be any issues at the location you go to register the car and pay your taxes and fees.
