I am not aware of any reason why MyChevrolet app would be a part of Carplay until Chevy finally stands behinds GM CEO Mary Barra's promise last year that the internal NAV will bring drivers right to the best charging sources. It currently resides in the MyChevy app (in the Send to Vehicle function):

Would you be able to find out if the Opel Ampera will actually have this function? If this is so, then perhaps it will eventually appear in the Bolt.... wishful thinking....
I ask because running Apple Maps through Carplay today seems to be a battery drain, so i wonder if the MyChevy app will do better with battery usage, when minimized after performing navigation.

Neither will have any battery drain. Carplay requires a USB connection which is consistently charging your iPhone from the Bolt EV by a negligible amount from its battery.

That link is to a test I am involved with where a second iPhone is used with Carplay in an always connected state in the Bolt EV to always provide NAV no matter who is driving. The question you are linking was how to limit the power drain to the iPhone when it was left on but NOT being charged by the Bolt EV when the car was shut off.

But you have no need for an iPhone to be always "ON" in your Bolt EV when the car is turned off. Don't you remove the iPhone and take it with you? So this link is irrelevant to your questions. Am I missing something here?

My apologies, you are the same member! I think we are a long way away from MyChevy being a Carplay app.
Now that GM has told me that Carplay disables Bluetooth, I have just been using my one iPhone mostly and just trying to remember to plug it in and take it out of the Bolt EV. I do not see anyway to get the 2nd iPhone to duplcate ALL of the features of my main iPhone including phone calls.
How do you generate that way to link back to another post on this forum. I would like to be able to do that too?

It appears you can right-click on the title of a forum post and paste it into a new message..
I wish the on-star navigation was better (more graphics) in the Bolt so I would not have to rely on Apple maps, but I guess this is the model (onstar or your phone for maps) chosen by GM...
PS: I got my Google Home assistant to accept a phrase like "directions to san francisco" and it will send and launch Google maps on my 2nd android phone, so it is on the Bolt screen as soon as I get into the car, with full navigation, when I use android auto. it is too bad Android auto is quite buggy and does not look as good as carplay, or I would use it more often..

You repeated your same post about your Google Maps and Android phones.

Apple Maps is great, the only issue I have is that when I complete a navigation event, the map system appears to stay running on the actual iPhone and consumes a lot of power. If I leave my car turned off for even three or four hours with the phone not getting power because the car is off, the phone will be empty by the time I get back in the car.
If I plug in the phone after booting it for the first time and I never turn on navigation, it can stay without receiving power from the car for about 10 days. I can make phone calls or whatever, all from carplay, just not navigation. That's what kills the battery.
I was actually wondering if the my Chevrolet app was carplay ready, and therefore had its own map integration system which perhaps handle battery power differently. I guess that issue is moot since it does not even work within carplay as mention from Amber above.

No map system continues running in the background with no trip active. It's been that way for a couple of years. And if it was running in the background, you would see a permanent banner on your home screen. Some other app is using all your battery.
You can verify this by looking at the battery usage per app in the settings.
It used to be real bad, especially with Waze. But not anymore.

At the end of your ride you can just swipe the Apple Maps app out of active status on the iPhone
