Recently everytime I open the door first thing in the morning I get a series of quick tapping sounds. Sometimes up to 70 of them but mostly around 30. Then, after I have been using the car I sometimes get a few of the taps when I open the door or the trunk.

Anyone have a clue about why this is happening? Could it be because of the new battery? It didn't start right after I got it though. It's annoying but this is still the best car I've ever owned in my 77 years. I had the egolf before but the range, or lack thereof, was a bummer.

Push on the brake pedal. Does it go away?

Mine's been doing this since I got my new battery. Something is off with the brake booster and it flutters constantly now.

The brake booster problem is fixed with a software update at the dealer. Mine was, 2017 LT w new battery

Our 2018 had started doing this a few months after our battery replacement. We thought, oh no now what. Others we know it happened as recently as last fall. It is not related to the battery replacement. Let the dealer know this is Service Bulletin 20-NA-170. This is for models year 2017-2020. Our dealer was not familiar with this service bulletin. It is corrected by a program update to the Brake Booster Control Module. Their should not be any hardware replacement involved.

Just got my car back from the dealer. The “Advanced Diagnostics” update fixed the brake booster for me. My Bolt is finally quiet.

Thanks for the info. My 2019 grinds sometimes upon opening a door. It had its battery replaced. I don't recall the noise prior to that. Anyway, was the software update free? One dealer wanted 150 to do that update so I didn't do it. I figure the grinding is harmless, just a minor annoyance. Am I wrong?

I can't imagine how a legitimate dealer would think you should pay for a correction related to the General Motors defective battery replacement. If you know the service bulletin number I think it would be covered by the manufacturer.
Any other responses out there?

Our service update would have been $150 but they were already doing a software update covered under warranty/recall so they didn't charge for it. Since this is not considered safety/recall related service they don't have to do it for free. But some dealers have unnecessarily replaced brake components when people have taken it their Bolt in for this noise problem and have been charged significant amounts which doesn't correct the issue since that only requires a software update which likely was still never done. This service update is not related to the battery replacement!

Guess what? I took my car to Premier Chevrolet in Carlsbad CA. First, they wanted to do a diagnostic test for $250.00 which could take up to 2 days. Then I showed the technician the service bulletin number. I might as well have been speaking Russian. The blank look was amazing. I heard the pitch about maybe having to replace brake parts which is not going to work for me. I said just do the service bulletin work. He said that will be $250.00 too. Then I was told it would be a few hours. So here I am, sitting in the waiting area looking at my car and hoping they'll fix it soon. I'm not impressed.

those Stealers, the software fix is just an offset tweak to the brake position sensor.

I've never had a problem with from your Chevrolet. So the fact that you're having an issue concerns me. My service advisor's name is Summer and you may want to go to the service director and let them know you're on the Chevy Bolt interaction page. By the way I have a 2022 EUV premiere what type of vehicle do you have as I have not seen a service bulletin for this particular issue on my vehicle and it's not making noise anyway.

I have the 2017 BoltEV. This seems to be an issue related to the battery replacement. Thanks for joining us. Good information on numerous topics. I'm a little confused on your first sentence.

I hate text-to-speech. I meant I go to Premiere Chevrolet in Carlsbad and have never had a real issue, as a matter of fact, they gave me the link on what was supposed to happen to get the tesla to CCS1 adapter and how to order it.

Let the dealer know this is Service Bulletin 20-NA-170.

Subject: Clicking Type Noise Heard Near Brake Pedal and/or I-Booster Under the Hood
Bulletin No.: 20-NA-170 Date: September, 2020

"DO NOT replace the I-booster assembly. Update the Brake Booster Control Module with the latest software."
"For vehicles repaired under warranty, use: Labor Operation 2811015"

Some TSBs are covered under extended warranty, some are not. I don't know from that language whether this one is covered or not.
I had a problem with a Ford out of warranty. The independent shop where I took it said, "yeah, we've done four or five of these this year". I called my selling dealer, who said there was an extended warranty TSB. I was out of town, so I had the independent shop tow it to a local dealer, who said there was no extended warranty on it, until I gave him the TSB number.

I have know people who have had this issue before the battery replacement. It is not related to battery replacement.
