Wow, alot of paranoia on here. You guys realize that GM has been using "black boxes" since the 90's, and every car since 2014 is mandated to have one that must record certain parameters, and in many cases also records GPS postion, AUDIO and VIDEO?? If you're concerned enough to remove the Onstar box, you better throw out your cell phone, and go back to your 1969 Nova.

Just sayin....

it's one thing for the car to record certain stuff in its black box if you need physical access to the car to download the data.

the problem is these cars are accessible via the internet and at that point, anyone who figures out how to exploit bugs in the car's firmware can get at all that info.

as you point out the same goes for the iphone or whatever, but at least apple is continuously patching security bugs. GM? not so much.
