In 5.5 hours on L2 it should have gained at least 100 miles...
That entirely depends on how much current is drawn at 240V. For example if you use the stock EVSE with a 240V adapter, it will only draw 12A and the resulting charge rate will be lower. So "L2" alone is an inadequate gauge of the actual charge rate.

The Bolt EV has a 32A L2 charger.

I think you mean that there is a Chevy/Bolt-branded EVSE available that can can do 32A @ 240V, which is the most that car will pull from the wall. If you were to plug it into a 40A/240V EVSE, the Bolt would still only pull 32A from the wall.

There are certain portable EVSEs that can operate off of 240V. Some of these are limited to 16A, some are 24A, and then there is the aforementioned stock portable 120V EVSE that comes with the car which can be easily converted to use 240V, but will still be limited to 12A regardless of input voltage or what the car can pull from the wall.

I wasn't talking about the charger that's built into the car, I was talking about the EVSE (the "cord") that comes with the Bolt. That EVSE is limited to 12A. My point was that "L2" charge rates will vary depending on the amount of current that the EVSE (and the circuit that you're plugged into) can handle. The 32A capability of the onboard charger is a maxmium, it doesn't guarantee that you will always charge at 32A.

Yup - I have been driving 2 EV's for several years now. I have a L2 that can do up to 40A; I have it set to 32A limit, because that is what the cord is rated for.

If the dealer was charging with the stock L1 unit, that is lame.
