It is too bad that GM apparently dropped Keypass where you could use a mobile phone with the MyChevrolet app installed. My experience in my 2017 Bolt was that Keypass was buggy and didn’t really add any functionality I could use.
The side effect of having Keypass active in the car is that it would cause iPhones to lose Bluetooth connectivity to the infotainment system after a few minutes. It appeared tat Keypass would make and drop a Bluetooth connection about every ten seconds and that would eventually overwhelm the iPhone. It was pretty frustrating to have to use a USB connection until Infigured out what was going on. I turned off Keypass on the vehicle and then Bluetooth audio worked normally.
If Tesla can use a mobile phone for vehicle control, GM ought to be able to figure it out. GM has pretty good engineering talent available. One difference, I believe, is that Tesla puts much more computing power in the main control unit than other manufacturers typically use. Having a stronger computer than what is just sufficient allows extending functions while the customer owns the vehicle - good strategy, especially if those are monetized functions. (not that I personally like monetized functions)
