There really is no comparison between the Tesla Model S and the Chevrolet Volt the Tesla has an option for all-wheel drive and has overall better specifications than the Chevrolet Volt

True, but we're not comparing the Model S here.

The Model 3 has promised similar specs (200-ish mile range, similar base price), but until Telsa actually issues a price sheet and starts taking orders, any comparison is just speculation.

Tesla has cornered a niche Market of more wealthy techies in the EV battle

Tesla's long-term success will not be in rivaling other EV Automotive companies but to take on the global Transportation infrastructure geared to gas powered cars

Tesla Representatives said we are always supportive of other manufactures who bring compelling electric vehicles to the market

That's why the Model 3 is interesting. It seems like everyone expects it to be an inexpensive Model S - but of course it's going to be a lesser car. You can't build the kind of Tesla that people have been buying up to now for just $35,000. So it's going to be interesting to see what the reaction is when it finally hits the streets.

Model 3 buyers are already more price conscious than Model S buyers (otherwise they'd be Model S owners). So when they discover that the Model 3 is a "cheap" Tesla they may be tempted to look around at similarly priced and spec'd vehicles - like the Bolt EV.

I really don't know how things are going to shake down, all I know is that there are too many unknowns right now to make any reliable predictions.

..... when GM released the Volt, the Chevy dealerships were adding $5k, $10K, even $20K to the sticker price..... that doesn't even include all the dealer add-on games

If GM adds extra to the cost of Bolt (in essence, transferring the gov't $7500 purchaser rebate to rich CEOs), I'll stay with my 2016 $13,000 Elantra & be happy. Back in the late 70's & 80's, car makers built inexpensive high mpg vehicles for the masses. Now, you can buy high mpg vehicles, but most often they are expensive. Yeah, you save a lot on fuel, but you hand over your fuel money to rich people (again), if you pay big bucks for the high mpg.

Even when Telsa hits the cap the rebate is gradually ramped down. It's not like buyer 249,999 gets a $7500 rebate and 250,000 gets nothing.

But we do know that present rebates have gone to rich people so they can play with a $100,000(+?) car.

The $7500 is a tax credit, not a rebate. It is designed to help "jump start" EV sales, and is not meant to (not should it) be a permanent incentive.

As volume goes up and technology advances, EV's will not need any additional incentives.

Look at flat screen TV's when they first came out. $15K for a 42 inch plasma (852 x 480 resolution) in 1995. As technology advanced and prices dropped, volume went up. Tube based displays are now very rare and sold only to low volume (and high cost) specialty markets.

In 20 years, will it be hard to find an ICE vehicle?

Allen Bailey president of GM North America said the Chevy Bolt is a Tesla killer virtually every new TV uses that term one way or another

The Business Insider stated the Chevy Bolt is the best thing that could have happened to Tesla

Thankfully, the "rich people" are sharing their zero emission air with us. And cars in all price ranges get the same federal credit.
