Two questions about programming new keys using two existing fobs

The owners manual goes over the key fobs in detail. I had two and added a third but I recall GM explaining how to add one when you just have one fob. It takes a while because of the theft protection time outs and I think with one fob you end up programming both. Not just a copy of the original...

Can Bolts charge at Tesla superchargers yet?

Ah. Be very careful about picking partners. Spectrum does use Verizon but you are second fiddle to Verizon’s real Customers. Your connection is not guarantied the same SLA that a prime customer has. That’s part of the cost savings. Yes partners save by buying airtime in bulk and reselling it...

Latest buzz surrounding the Chevy Bolt EV

And Honda would not have partnered with GM if it was so bad. From everything I’ve seen, touched , driven from GM, the problem isn’t the battery and hardware. It’s their software which sucks across the board. Honda is using their own software to a degree. I don’t if it’s just a reskin or deeper...

Can Bolts charge at Tesla superchargers yet?

The price can depend on time of day and supercharger. Most but not all SCs very the price during day and night. Peak times tend to be expensive. They also adjust prices without warning so it may change from one day to the next. Or they change the hours of adjustment. It also depends if you join...

Using EVExtend on the Bolt EV for emergency 120V up to 1,500 watts

Charger to wall jack or in this case, extension cord. It bonds neutral to ground. I bought a fancy one that is a direct plug in cord for my Tesla mobile charger. This is where everyone goes “ahhhhhhhhh” ;)

Can Bolts charge at Tesla superchargers yet?

Required? No. But it’s really the preferred way to go. Or RFI cards. The CC generally suck and are dead/broken most of the time. You will end up collecting apps. Every idiot company with a charger has their own app. Many require a preload which sucks when you want to use it one time at a place...

Can Bolts charge at Tesla superchargers yet?

Not exactly. There are older 250kw not available for CCS. Always check the app for compatibility. For example, Quartzsite on the 10 had two sets of stalls. The older set do not support CCS but the 2nd set are newer and do support CCS

Can Bolts charge at Tesla superchargers yet?

They do come in different speeds. The older ones are slower. About 70kw. The newest are V4 and they are called “magic dock” chargers because they have a built in CCS adapter but they are not consistently available (the adapter). They work very well with the various CCS adapters i have used and...

Can Bolts charge at Tesla superchargers yet?

Supercharger is a trademarked term that tesla uses for their own design of DCFC. Or Direct Current Fast Chargers. The consumers knows these as collectively “fast chargers”. That means roughly anything over 15kw or Level 2 which is AC chargers. The more typical is 6-10kw. Most of us do not have...

Using EVExtend on the Bolt EV for emergency 120V up to 1,500 watts

You can get bonded plug adapters. RV folks use them all the time. I have one for my road trips because some camp grounds are set up to look like generator power

Can Bolts charge at Tesla superchargers yet?

Tesla sets the price. You can pay a monthly membership and save some money if you are a high user. I won’t use the Chevy app because it sucks so badly. I used it once and I don’t remember if they added a charge on top of Teslas price

Can Bolts charge at Tesla superchargers yet?

If you use the tesla find us web app, the chargers you can use have the tesla plug symbol. I have two V3 chargers and one V4 (magic dock) within 4 miles. The V3 are a challenge with the short cords. The V4 is painless to use.

Can Bolts charge at Tesla superchargers yet?

Same. Using it right now actually. Been using it for the last two months. It’s a snug fit but it comes apart easily enough. That said, my wife struggles with due to upper body strength and lack of grip strength. We have the same issue with tesla adapters for CCS. They fit snugly and do require...

Ridiculous Process to Replace Key Fob

I’m late to this but I paid about 60 USD for a used cleared fob from an online seller and programmed the key myself. Took about 30 mins. I wanted three fobs because sure as hell one of the kids will lose one sooner or later :/

Using EVExtend on the Bolt EV for emergency 120V up to 1,500 watts

I’ll bet there is too much loss with 50 feet of cord. It’s probably too small of gauge since most extension cords are very cheaply made. Many are 12awg and you want 10awg for the best hope of it working. That will be two to three times the cost of a cheap 12 gauge cord

Anyone Tried Other Brand Chargers for Bolt EV

yep. That’s the other one I have. Had it for three years now and works good with the various tesla home/destination chargers I’ve used.

Yellow light appears when I use the 240V outlet

Most reputable chargers sense ground leakage and missing grounds. They also measure resistance. Its a good safety feature :). Having to reset a breaker is a warning that there is an internal issue as far as the charger is concerned. Burnt contacts or dirty contacts lead to higher than expected...

Anyone Tried Other Brand Chargers for Bolt EV

This is one of two I have. I bought it off Amazon and it works very well. Any Tesla wall connector/destination charger that is set up on 220/240 volts. I also use it with my mobile charger when plugged into a 14/50 220 outlet like you can find in an RV park. The other one I have had a short...

Anyone Tried Other Brand Chargers for Bolt EV

For home use, I use Autel and Tesla Connector V3 with an adapter. On the road I carry the same adapter which lets use any Tesla destination charger plus my normal CCS/J sites plug I carry a Tesla mobile adapter with a 220 plug plus bonding plug( some RV sites present power like it's from a...
