What about a elec heating pad on dash?

Can you explain that more? What exactly are you trying to accomplish doing that? The heater will quickly clear the windshield in the morning if that's what your aiming to do, and you can also precondition. Also, I'm pretty sure the 12v socket is unpowered when the car is off.

    Gauging battery health

Unfortunately there isn't a way to find out before you purchase the car. I got my 2017 a couple months ago with 21K miles, knowing that the Bolt has thermal management and I did months of YouTube research also. If you find a used one that has a reasonable amount of annual mileage on it I...

Question for Anyone with Chargepoint Home

One thing to note, are you planning to leave the cable on the ground running under the closed garage door? The could be bad but I'm not an electrician. The cable would be compressed while all that current is running through it, plus the extra abrasion over time will wear on it. I do it...

Radio turns on whenever I turn the car off

Yes, that's normal behavior and mine does it too. Turn off the car and the head unit shuts everything down for a moment but then the radio turns back on. Our Subaru does it too so I think its the industry standard now that there is no physical key to have the ACC mode we've been used to for decades.

Radio turns on whenever I turn the car off

Do you mean the radio was off but turns on when you shut off the car, or that the radio was on and then stays on after the car is off? The latter is pretty much standard in cars lately. But the Bolt doesn't have an ACC mode so it could be just an alternative to that to let us sit in the driveway...

    Infotainment Weirdness

Mine has been rock solid so far. But since you got the extra wty, just use it. Maybe it needs a software update. My Bluetooth seems fine although I USB to use Google Maps, at least once I figured out that not all cables are Apple CarPlay compatible. As for the App, I couldn't get it to work at...

    Top speed governor

That setting could be out of reach if Chevy is using it as another way to protect the battery. Although changing it might be nice for a track day. I read somewhere that Chevrolet has tested at the rated top speed and got 170 miles of range. It's also possible that other parts of the LG drive...

    Winter Tires

I need tires by Thanksgiving also but I'm not thrilled about a winter set, swapping them and storing them. But I have the advantage that I am pretty much only local commuting and running errands in the suburbs of Chicago, about 20 miles a day typically. I can charge at home at L2 so I'm going to...

How common is it to charge 300 miles?

I use hill top reserve mostly but charged to full recently and the middle average number was 293 when the OnStar app reported full.

    Longer future range?

Thank you! I'm going to get those Nokian's next month. This winter is supposed to be as bad or worse than last year.

Attending the local Drive Electric this Saturday

Anyone else representing the Bolt EV in their area? Mine is about half hybrid's, 7 Tesla's, and a couple i3's. It looks like the location isn't exactly on the main drag so I hope we get some of the public dropping by so we can evangelize, otherwise it will be just true believers. But at least...

Should I feel confident buying a used high-mileage Bolt?

Check out Bolt owner News Coulomb (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqB3od74sV0) reporting on his 70K miles 2017, and he has fast charged hundreds of times, not babied it as I intend to with mine. I'd say for most late model EV's it is more likely that the car will rust away before there is...

    More impressive than expected!!

In IL we aren't required to use chains, etc. and most people just live with all seasons. I'm leaning towards the Goodyear Assurance Weatherready but still researching options. My OEM's are almost at 4/32 and have enough trouble with rain so I'll need something by fall. We only get about 3-4 good...

    Longer future range?

Not that I need more range but I saw on one of the EV YouTuber's videos that the new/upcoming Bolt will have more range (30+ stated miles). I'm curious if that might be from a software update due to a change in the upper and lower battery buffer and we might benefit, or if there is a refresh...

parent leasing and transfer to child / license plates etc

You will need to check with your lease holder and the state DMV. But in general I'm guessing this isn't possible. The original lease was a contract between two parties and whomever the lease is from is in control. A lease is simply a long term car rental. The next person getting the keys would...

    Rate Chevy Bolt

I give it a 9/10. The only thing I actually want is better sun visor coverage and extension. I've heard the 2019 extends, maybe the dealer can swap them? Another inch of seat cushion padding would be welcome. Give those in back an inch less leg room since 98% of the time I'm the only one in the...

    More impressive than expected!!

:o So about a month into owning my 2017 Bolt EV (21K miles), I couldn't be happier with this car. I have gotten used to the thin seats and I only do my local commute of 20 miles a day plus running errands so it isn't like I'm driving non-stop across country. In the way I used to tell everyone...

    Does the MyChevrolet App work?

Thanks! After my third call to OnStar, who transfered me to Chevy for app support, I may have accidentally figured it out. About all Support could offer was sign out and in, or reinstall the app. So I reinstalled it and this time got the OnStar connected, with the KeyPass thing not yet set up...

    power grid surge

:?: Resurrecting this post in case the community has learned more about this with the passing of time. Given that we can potentially recharge anywhere, how good is the Bolt at protecting itself from spikes, brownouts, etc.? I could be using mine or someone's 110 outlet in an emergency. Our...

    Audible warning

Sorry to dredge up an old post, but should my 2017 have this feature? I did check fuse 34 and it seems okay but I startled someone in the office parking lot today. I don't really hear anything driving at 5 mph with the window down. I think there is a long wall at the mall I can drive close to...
