Winter tires

Hi,
I checked with my dealer about snow tires for the winter (I now have All Season) and apparently GM only runs cast wheels and there is no option for steel rims. The cost to put snow tires on wheels so that I can just change them off myself is $2500 because the wheels cost $400 each. Is it against the lease if I purchase steel wheels from a third party with tires?

They cannot penalize you for doing this, unless those third party wheels damage your car somehow. You'd be safe with a place like Tire Rack. You don't ever have to tell GM about it.

I got a price from Tire Rack for Mich ICE with temp sensors for around $726 which I think i s pretty good.

I got a response from GM. They said they don't care but when you return the car it has to have all original parts on it. So if you want to change the tires it's OK.

The problem (I don't know if the links you posted pertains to that) is that you can mount tires on the original wheels but then twice a year you have to have them changed back. I want to use steel wheels and just put them on and take them off at home. At $400 a wheel the originals just cost too much for me.
