I've been chasing this information for several months now. in 2016 /2017 FY budget, NY state passed a rebate up to $2000 for EV. It's apparently based on miles driven electric. Starting at $1000 for Plug in hybrids and up to EV with under 125 miles for $1700. Over 125 miles EV you get $2000. My Ford Dealer called last week to mention they were participating in a webinar on how to file the rebate.

This article from AP highlights what's happening but not real detail on the plan. Supposedly will be live April 1st 2017.

This will help with some savings for doing the right thing in my opinion. On another note, my NY dealer has a bolt on the books but not yet in the store. They're saying 2 weeks. So, the NY March timeframe announced by GM seems for real. I'm looking forward to test driving the car for myself.

I was also in touch with NYSERDA on this. Their response was terrible. It was essentially, as of last Fall, 'We don't have to have this done until April first, and that's our planned date to finish. We don't know if leases will be included, and we don't know if it will be retroactive to any date. We have no other details. Sorry.'

You'd think this was Texas.

Rebate is live as of yesterday. The interesting news is that the Bolt seems to be the only car that is eligible for the full 2k rebate, at least until the Model III comes out.

The Leaf 2, due out in September, will qualify for the full amount. That rebate will pay for my Premium Package option.
