License Plate Lights

Has anyone attempted to change the license plate lights on the Bolt yet? I'm assuming they're not LEDs, and I'd love to make them more efficient than the halogens.

Definitely not LEDs. I figured out how to do it, very simple process. They are 168 bulbs and have a nice housing that actually helps aim the light from the LEDs. Looks 100x better now.

Where did you buy your LE bulbs? And any tips on accessing the license plate lights?

I just got mine at PepBoys, they are the Philips 168/194 LED bulbs. So the manual has a diagram on how to do it, but I took a small Flathead screwdriver and pushed on the left side of the light enclosure. This compressed the clips holding the housing in there and allowed for it to come out. You then turn the bulb connector to remove it from the housing and change the bulb. Remember that they are polarity sensitive, so I recommend testing before reinstalling so you don't have to take it out again.
