Hi All,

When I use either the fob or the button on the door handle to unlock the car head lights and backup lights go on automatically (day or night).

I like this feature at night but why in the world would it be appropriate during the daytime?

Seems like an unnecessary drain on the battery.

I did a quick 'search' thru the pdf version of the 2019 owner's manual and ...

Instruments and Controls -> Vehicle Personalization -> Remote Lock / Unlock / Start

Pg 148-49 describes how to modify for lock/unlock.

Details on finding digital copies of the owner's manual can be found here :

The rationale is that it makes your car easier to spot in a parking lot. Sometimes people forget where they've parked and they use the remote lock/unlock as they look around the parking lot for a car whose lights are going on and off.

As noted by the other posters, you can customize the behaviour.

Thanks everybody,

I turned off the 'vehicle locator lights' feature & enabled 30 second 'exit lighting'.

Now the head, backup lights stay on for 30 seconds after I turn the car off ONLY at night.
