GM released its delivery report for December 2016 yesterday and it represents the whole year 2016 of deliveries for the Chevy Bolt EV since it started shipping only last month. The automaker confirmed that it managed to deliver 579 Chevy Bolt EVs in 2016.
As previously reported, the company was a little behind in the production of the all-electric car which was first expected to start in October 2016. It instead started in mid-December 2016.
In comparison, GM delivered 3,691 Chevy Volts in December and 24,739 in 2016. It’s a good 60% improvement from last year for GM’s previous flagship electric vehicle program, but still nothing close to its regular gas-powered car programs selling in the hundreds of thousands of vehicles per year.
The slow start for the Bolt EV was anticipated considering GM is currently only shipping to California and Oregon.
Other states will follow gradually during the first half of 2017 and international deliveries will happen during the second half of the year, according to the automaker.
