This is a great idea

Electric vehicle owners who have ever been worried about potentially running out of charge in a remote location may be happy to hear that the OEM power solutions firm Phihong will be releasing a new portable 10 kilowatt (kW) DC charger for use with vehicles. The new portable charger will also be able to provide 3.5 kW backup AC power. Delivery to electric vehicles is at 12V or 24V, depending on needs

This is NOT something that you carry around in the trunk of your EV. Yes it is 'portable' - in that it can be moved - but it will be sitting in a pickup truck or commercial delivery van. The manufacturer's web site ( http://www.phihong.com/ev-chargers/portable-dc-charger.php ) shows a picture (next to a truck with a CRANE in the bed!) and it looks like it weighs upwards of 220 lbs (100 kg) and it COULD 440 lbs (200 kg) or even more.

This is a roadside assistance "portable" charger. And since it has a 6kWh battery pack (12 kWh for the 'deluxe' version), you better not be in TOO remote of a location, because you aren't going very far. I don't much see the utility for emergencies, except that it can be put in the back of a pickup. AAA (in the U.S.) provides 'battery jumpstart' and 'battery replacement' roadside services and I guess that this could be added to that (just as they will deliver gas if you run out). I think I'd just use plugshare to find a person close by with a level-2 station and beg them mercilessly for an emergency charge.

I guess it would be most useful for a business or city fleet 'yard' IF it can plug in to standard 220/240V and charge up for a couple of hours to provide an emergency jolt for their business vehicles that are out of 'oomph' and only need to drive 5-15 miles.

Not useful for the homeowner if it needs a crane to move it ;).
