Electric Smell when I plug in my cell phone to use as a GPS ? Also sound coming from from fr left side at slow speed.

Has anyone had an issue with electric smells coming from vents when using the cell phone as a Android GPS?
Also at slow speed I have a clicking noise almost sounds like a grinding noise from front of car . Can't decide if driver or passenger side.
