My poor Bolt is sitting in my driveway, incapacitated, unable to be locked or unlocked, started or completely turned off, won't charge, the door lock mechanisms don't work (ie. I can't open the hatchback), the front lights are on and the emergency lights won't stop flashing. The car has basically gone haywire and is stuck in that place. I got into my Bolt a couple hours ago with 90 miles on the battery (ie. the battery wasn't drained) and the first clue was that I couldn't put it from Park into Reverse after trying several times. This has happened before if I rush this process right after starting, but usually I wait 30 seconds and everything works fine. This time, the car stayed in Neutral and wouldn't go into either Reverse or Drive. The display above the steering wheel reads "Service" on top and "Transmission" underneath that, rotating messages with another couple screens. My first thought is to reboot, but how? I can't find anything on YouTube that describes what I'm going through. Second thought is to unplug the battery after reading that worked for someone, but a tutorial video for that looked complicated, time-consuming, risky and dangerous (whether to the car or to myself), and not to be done in the dark. Chance of electrocution and the sort. Ideas anyone? I really don't want to have to tow it to a mechanic tomorrow morning as my day is extremely busy and I need a working Bolt!
