    Bolt too expensive for me

Source please. GM has said the battery cells cost $145/kWh. With a 60kWh battery that is somewhere $9000. Add in case, battery management and such and the cost is up to somewhere around $10,000.

Test Drove and Looking For Input and Feedback

Charging stations at the hotel and at the office park are still something you may want in the future. The Bolt isn't the end of electric car advancement. Please ask the hotel management and office park management about their plans, as electric cars are getting more common, passing 1% of car...

Test Drove and Looking For Input and Feedback

Optimistically, sure, with little margin. On a good day, warm not cold or hot, no wind or tailwind, new car, no construction/accident detours, no rain, and so on. Try a stiff headwind. With a steady 20 mile per hour headwind, you would get closer to 2.5 miles per kWh. Would use about 125miles/...

As for location, this hotel? http://www.lq.com/en/findandbook/hotel-details.san-diego-carlsbad.address.html An L2 at this hotel would make this trip easy. An L1 might be enough... But I'm pessimistic. There are hotels with L2 around there, but they seem pricier. Still, might mention to this...

buying leasing bolt in Southern California

However, suppose you are retired, and pay little or no income tax. Buying a Leaf SV will cost more than leasing unless the residual is more than $7,500 more than the market value at the end of the lease, as you can't take the tax credit.

Test Drove and Looking For Input and Feedback

The first couple of trips beyond "no worries" range from home are always somewhat scary. And working out how to fit charging into the trip is very worthwhile. The Hilton Gardens is the Chargepoint 24kW. So why charge at night? I assume your trip is home (Palm Springs) => work => hotel =>...

Test Drove and Looking For Input and Feedback

There are multiple Chargepoint locations near Carlsbad, but I don't see any inside the town. L2 stations are often 6.6kW or 7.2kW, sometimes 3.3kW, sometimes more but the Bolt only can take 7.2kW, and rarely other values. Are you perhaps talking about "Hilton Garden Inn Carlsbad Beach"? or...

    is removing head rest safe?

From personal experience, yes. Leaf seat including headrest never felt more comfortable than it did for the second or so while getting smacked from behind.

    Battery Management

Err.. no. Knowing the no load voltage and temperature gives state of charge. Nothing special about top or bottom. A good idea to charge to 100% on a weekly or monthly schedule, but for the second reason and not the first. The balancing of cells is usually done near 100%, or "top balanced". You...

    This car likes it HOT

If it does happen, don't turn off the AC for very long. That temperature/humidity is fatal in a few hours at most. Your skin would lose no heat until warmer than 40C or 104F, your core temperature would rise well above that. Death. Survival limit is near a wet bulb temperature of 35C, will kill...

Educate me - the great range debate

But frankly, the answer is: it depends. How cold? Dry, rain or heavy wet snow? Inside of the cabin, dry or damp? What speed? And probably more. The definitive answer would be pages and pages. Here is the summary. TLDR

Does the Bolt have a battery capacity history?

Thanks, Amber. Would you please expand on what sort of battery capacity report I might get from a certified mechanic? And what this battery capacity report might cost?

Are Electric Cars Really Green? PragerU PragerU

I get 105 Grams of CO2e Per Mile. However, I've put in several different local Zip codes with different electric utilities, some of which are almost all hydro and some of which have some fossil fuel components, and the answer is the same. Seattle City, Puget Energy, Snohomish PUD, OPALCO, ...

Two week review after 700 miles

There are 20 Amp outlets (NEMA 5-20), which could charge at 16 Amps or 1.92kW. I've got one in my garage, and have no 20A appliances or charging cord to try it out with. There are also 30 Amp usually found in RV parks (TT-30), which can support 24 Amps or 2.88kW. (Edit: corrected 19.2kW to the...

    Capacity fade in EVs

I'm sure the thousand or so that died from VW's excess pollution would agree with you. As would the thousands that will die if these cars stay in operation. Of course, much of the death toll is in Europe, where there are more VWs, the population is denser, the miles driven per car is higher...

This reviewer was clearly smoking something

Slower and in some ways nicer, try Amtrak. Not as many trips destinations, car renting isn't always reasonable, not always for those in a hurry. When I was traveling between Portland OR and Seattle WA, I found that Amtrak was usually faster than driving while I5 was under construction. I'm not...

Found dried up circle of fluid (no color) on ground...

Not the A/C's fault. Is there a little sulfur in the air? Sulfuric acid can be present in rain, dew, and condensate. Acid rain from your A/C.
