2017 Nissan Leaf Hits Back At Chevrolet Bolt

This seems like it would be a problem with any EV. With a TMS, the TMS is going to be running all summer keeping the battery just warm and the garage even hotter than it is today. I'd suggest insulating the ceiling and adding vents.

My first two months with the Bolt

And this: As well as in the USA. Plugshare shows 28 CHADEMO stations in Puget Sound area of Washington state, and 19 dual headed CHADEMO/CCS stations, and 3 CCS stations. Away from Puget Sound, most of the DCQC stations are CHADEMO or Tesla. CCS is a newer standard, driven by automakers that...

2017 Nissan Leaf Hits Back At Chevrolet Bolt

I'm puzzled by this, based on your location. Even with the early Leafs, you should be looking at 10 years or more to get to 70%. No thermal management power drain, simple should mean more reliable and so on.

    Are EV's "Green"?

Follow the carbon. You breath out CO2, where did the carbon come from? Perhaps the oatmeal you had for breakfast. Where did the oatmeal come from? Someone grew oats, collecting carbon from the air. Biology is mostly a loop. Some tiny fraction of carbon gets stored to be turned into fossil...

    Are EV's "Green"?

Let me fix that for you. Electricity generation might release CO2 from burning coal & natural gas. Seattle city is 97+% hydro, nuclear and wind. http://www.seattle.gov/light/FuelMix/ British Columbia is 90+% hydro, they don't have electric bills, they have hydro bills. Ontario was running...

    Are EV's "Green"?

Nice of you to claim that I'm dishonest. Do you really want to look like an insulting Troll? Halfway is a good goal. If the world could halve the releases of CO2, the level in the atmosphere would stabilize for hundreds of years. Yes, the oceans would still be getting more acidic as most of the...

Battery died with 35 miles left. Is this normal?

This is correct for other EVs, but is it true for the Bolt? Has anyone studied how the Bolt does battery balancing? Does GM document it?

    Are EV's "Green"?

I am not speaking not as a moderator at this time. Sometimes people pretend to be something or someone they are not. Sometimes it is to try out roles they might like. Sometimes it is learn. Sometimes it is an inner personality conflict. Sometimes it is just trolling. If you are not intending...

Is the glass empty or dry? What about half full? Or 7/16?

    Global warming ...

Leaf #1 made it to about 23000 miles, before becoming a sandwich filling on the freeway. Insurance company bought it, I hope they sold it as parts... At least the parts that were not bent/broken. Leaf #2 is at 30,969 miles as of today. With the hidden assumption that the car is scrapped at...

    Global warming ...

Software is a rather different business than hardware. Cars are hardware. Windows 8 is software. Software copies are (hopefully) error free, so each copy of a software package is exactly the same as the first copy. Hardware copies should (hopefully) get better with each copy. Better as in...

    Global warming ...

Even if investors are willing to develop a product, the first production relies on people willing to take a chance on products that are perhaps not yet economically viable, and not yet as high quality as later production will be. The Ford Model A (1903–04), the Tesla Roadster and the GM EV1, as...

    Global warming ...

Not a moment sooner, but can be many moments later. Production of anything has a declining cost curve. Make one of anything, and it is going to be very expensive and/or not very good. Make ten, and they get cheaper and better. Make ten million, cheaper and better still. Suppose I want to...

Anyone else having trouble with going to fast?

I had that problem when I first started to drive an electric. Luckily didn't get a ticket. I hit 90 mph in a 55 zone. There is no engine noise feedback to warn you of driving too fast. If no traffic around, it is too easy to speed. Get in the habit of glancing at the speedometer, or use cruise...

    Winter driving?

The charging stations at work are available for anyone? The problem you would have with non-dedicated charging at work is as more people buy electric cars then getting a charge station each and every day is going to get harder over time, especially when you need it most, in the winter. At my...

    Winter driving?

As a long time electric car driver, I'd suggest you not get a Bolt or any similar 60kWh electric car, unless you have reliable charging at both home and work. Mountain driving, snowy roads, wind, cold and winter tires all reduce range. Also, batteries will lose capacity over time. If your...

Don't know, but suspect so. Some damage to the car in front of me, as well.
