Seriously, it adjusts the distance between you and the car in front of you for the collision warning feature. Depending on your driving style, you may need to change to a lower distance (there are three levels). e.g. some drivers are aggressive and hit the brakes hard when coming to a stop at a stoplight, while others prefer to coast more slowly. If you car often beeps the collision warning, you can adjust the sensitivity with that button.
For me, it's gone off when I am pushing the yellow light and have to accelerate a tad to get through the intersection before it changes to red, making it seem like I am trying to ram the cars that have already made it through. That loud beep and red lights flashing certainly grabs my attention.

Selecting the Alert Timing
The Collision Alert control is on the
steering wheel. Press[to set the
FCA timing to far, medium, near,
or off. The first button press shows
the current control setting on the
DIC. Additional button presses will
change this setting. The chosen
setting will remain until it is changed
and will affect the timing of both the
Collision Alert and the Tailgating
Alert features. The timing of both
alerts will vary based on vehicle
speed. The faster the vehicle speed,
the farther away the alert will occur.
Consider traffic and weather
conditions when selecting the alert
timing. The range of selectable alert
timing may not be appropriate for all
drivers and driving conditions.
