What are the dimensions of the back hatch/lift opening. I am wanting to transport my dog in his crate and want to know whether the crate will fit through the back opening.

Google it...or better yet, take the crate with you to the dealership. I'm guessing that unless it's a small crate, there's no chance it's going to fit without folding the rear seats forward.
Fitting our dog's medium-sized crate in our car was a big consideration for us too, as she goes with us everywhere. The cargo area behind the back seats in our Mercedes is much bigger than the Bolt's, but the crate just fits.

where someone posts the dimensions as they measured them. There are likely other posts on the subject already, as well. "Hatch" "crate" and "dimensions" would be 3 good search terms.
