Apologies if this has been covered, but I did look first. I had my first negative experience last night with my new car, I plugged in my AV charger like I usually do, but 15 minutes later I got a text message that said charging was interrupted. Went to the garage, there is a loud whining sound coming from the area of the charging port. No trouble lights on the charger or the dashboard. I tried it again a few minutes later, same result. It was pretty warm last night, 90 degrees in the garage, I thought maybe some self-protecting system was kicking in, but the sound was pretty distressing and I didn't see this addressed in the manual. An hour later, I tried again and everything was normal. Has anyone else had this experience?

More than likely the battery conditioning system kicked in to cool down the battery pack for charging purposes. The noises you were hearing are the pumps/fans/compressors used to running the conditioning system. The amount of power drawn by that system likely exceeded the amount of power available from the wall, and that's probably why you got the charging interruption message.
