Hitch available

There is now a hitch available for the Bolt, apparently for mounting bicycle racks and such.

The Chevrolet web site says that it is made by Curt, but it appears to be less expensive on the Chevrolet web site than the Curt web site.

Agreed. The picture on the chevy website looks completely different than Curt's or etrailers website. I prefer the Chevy version, as it looks like its a little sturdier, but I'd like to see pictures of one that somebody has bought from Chevy before I pull the trigger!

The unit on the Chevy site is rated at only 110 pounds, for a bicycle carrier only. The Curt unit is rated for 200 pound tongue weight and 2,000 pound towing.

I installed a Curt hitch - purchased through Amazon - on my new Bolt. No problem installing.

Big problem when carrying my bicycle. The combined weight of my Softride bike rack and the bicycle caused the attachment plates to act as torsion bars and the rack/bike combo bounced way too much for my safety conscious taste.

I looked at possible ways of stiffening the attachment, and there was just no easy way. I purchased a ratcheting tie down, added some nylon load straps to the hitch attachment bar and secured the tie down at the latch bar (there for child booster seats) on the back of the rear seat. After mounting the bike, tightening the ratchet (just enough to see the tension lift the bike rack) it now rides as if the bike is "welded" to the car.

This was really important to me because my daily ride is my way of staying physically fit (my bike odometer recently clicked over 17,000 miles).

If anyone from Curt reads this - you really need to re-think the method of attachment on the Bolt.
