GM not planning to fund CCS fast chargers

So your argument boils down to you think that Telsa should build EVSEs that support other non-Tesla EVs, increase their costs, reduce the availability for Telsa models (they can't charge when another EV is using it), and ultimately offer zero benefits and purely negatives to actual Telsa buyers...

    Drive mode options

There are cars other than the second gen Volt have a regen paddle? As far as I'm aware this is a Chevy-only thing. If they added a regen setting as Tesla and BMW already have, you could use the paddle as you wish, and I could continue to avoid it. But because there is no setting, only 1 of us...

Bolt on display in Sacramento at CA State Capitol

That is interesting, and I respect your opinion. I think you're right that in general that wouldn't sell well, but I could see how it may be desired for something like a 2-seater sports car.

Chevy Bolt vs Tesla Model 3, lack of charger network matter?

It also depends on how many chargers are at each location and how well they are maintained. In my experience, CCS is usually 1 or 2 plugs, and when one is broken it could be weeks or even months before it's fixed. The maintenance is highly variable depending on the network and/or private...

Agree, which is why the i3 (and I believe Tesla) does not mimic ICE at all. It is trivial to coast in an i3 with no shifting needed. It sounds like the Bolt unfortunately was not designed this way and honestly this might be a dealbreaker for me after a test drive. :( Exactly! I cannot...

It's only wasteful if it means the exterior size or weight was amplified, neither of which are true for the i3. Win-win.

I will say only one of these two cars has won multiple interior design awards. :P

GM not planning to fund CCS fast chargers

I don't believe this is accurate. I have followed discussions from a company that sells Chademo-to-Telsa adapters and though I don't remember the technical details, it was clear that CCS has quite a lot more different than the physical connector. I believe it was due to the way the protocol...

GM not planning to fund CCS fast chargers

True, it's semantics on the definition of "port" but I will concede that. The difference is that CCS uses separate pins, which makes for a bulky and clumsy plug where Tesla shares the same pins for AC/DC.

'Skateboard' battery increases interior room and trunk space

While it is no match for gas cars that many are used to, I think the Bolt rear storage area is a clear win over the i3 at least. It looks like the storage above the shelf is already at least as big as the i3 storage, plus you get the below shelf area, and a nice and neat place for the L2 EVSE...

Bolt on display in Sacramento at CA State Capitol

Ignoring the massive difference in range, I wouldn't personally buy a Focus as the interior looks like something from 1990 and is claustrophobic with that massive dash structure where the Bolt looks like the most futuristic (and "clean" design) interior Chevy has have designed. I suspect Chevy...

GM not planning to fund CCS fast chargers

I have a CCS car and it clearly has 2 physical ports with different pins for AC and DC charging. There are even separate dust caps for the 2 separate ports on the i3. I agree it's a preferable design to Chademo because both ports are inline and can be plugged in simultaneously with one massive...

Expected month for "build it" website configurator?

Anyone have any guesses for when chevrolet.com will let you build out a Bolt with options and pricing in the US? I am thinking October for a December release.

GM not planning to fund CCS fast chargers

There is a lack of historical information here. Tesla would have chosen a standards compatible charger if one existed that met their needs at the time they designed their charge port in 2011 (and the design probably began earlier). Can you really blame them for going their own way and not...

    Drive mode options

Guilty! Strongly disagree. A paddle on the steering wheel would not improve my i3 driving style at all, in fact it would be a negative as I would then be required to use my hand to control deceleration instead of my foot--Where that input has historically been controlled for the last...

    Drive mode options

Personally haven't found this to be a case with my i3, as I use adaptive cruise control in most scenarios (even in city traffic), but just like with gas cars I would never do any sort of long distance highway driving without cruise control. Exactly, but if the ACC is good enough you can also...

Two more years on my Volt lease

I'v driven a RWD i3 for over a year now and have never on dry pavement spun the tires, despite aggressively accelerating nearly every trip. I recently test drove a second gen Volt and spun the front wheels in the parking lot! The problem is the weight shifts backwards when you accelerate. We...

    Drive mode options

I got the i3 as my first EV and it's one-pedal regen default has completely spoiled me. It's one of the best things about the car.I hope the Bolt has something very similar, because I drove the 2nd gen Volt and is was notably inferior for my preferences. I'll take 1 pedal over 2 pedals and a...
