interesting story about a winter Montreal ride

https://www.slashgear.com/5-things-we-learned-on-our-chevrolet-bolt-winter-road-trip-19485525/ Just a blogger, an acknowledged Bolt fan, taking it for a ride in the cold North.

The Death of my Range Anxiety

I think it's fair to say range anxiety is a situational thing. There are people driving an EV today with 50 range who never feel range anxiety. And there are people who feel range anxiety in a 300 mile range EV. Range anxiety won't disappear completely until you can recharge your EV at any "gas"...

    Is Chevy investigating seat complaints?

    >> ScooterCT, are you one of the owners suffering through this issue? I don't own a Bolt, but I might someday - possibly after the initial Bolt owners complete the real-world testing that GM skipped in their rush to market. The seats, the constant stream of other issues reported here, and what...

The Chevy Bolt Is the Ugly Car of the (Very Near) Future

Edmunds just took a Bolt for a long term test vehicle, and they posted their first few video reviews. I thought they fairly and evenhandedly addressed this issue of "what is the Bolt". Kind of touches on where this thread is going. I won't repeat their findings here, but I recommend watching the...

    Is Chevy investigating seat complaints?

I'm really surprised at the willingness of Bolt owners to suffer through the seat thing. I'm surprised nobody has contacted a lawyer to file a class action lawsuit. More than a few lawyers will do this at no cost to you. All you have to do is Google "class action lawyers", and then make a...

Unfortunately Bolt is still a compliance car from GM

I was just browsing a 2014 BMW I3 with 9,000 miles on the odo for $15,000. Even at only 80 miles range, the deal so tempting. But not until I test drive a Bolt...

    Bumpy Ride - Stiff Suspension

Every wheelbase/suspension/wheel setup has a natural resonance frequency. You might be unlucky enough to travel just right speed, across perfectly spaced road heaves, to hit that resonance frequency. You might try changing your speed a few trips to see if that's the case. The Bolt has a...

Any suggestions for my Bolt test drive (Saturday)

That's interesting about the reX system. The i3 salesman made a significant effort to show me the "call for help" button by the mirror, so BMW can send a tow truck. Range extension doesn't appeal to me as an engineer. It's an awkward interim hack to get from pure ICE to pure BEV. Really, range...

Hum/Whine noise driverside front under hood

I say replace the noise generator with a recording of "Mr T" saying, "I'm gonna get you sucka". Or maybe Arnold saying "I'll be back". Hmmm, I wonder if there is an aftermarket opportunity for EV backup sounds, just like ring tones?

Any suggestions for my Bolt test drive (Saturday)

Sigh... We didn't get around to test driving the Bolt test drive today. We just ran out of time. We drove a 2014 and 2017 Volt, which were adequate but just didn't grab us. I disliked the Volt regen brakes - I drifted through two stop signs before I got the hang of them. And even then they...

New car sticker for my Bolt

Sure the sticker is fine, and fun, and harmless. It's just factually wrong. But it was pretty snarky of me to allude to sixth grade science. My apologies to the OP for that.

    Massachusetts / New England

Anybody living in RI - Paul Massey lists 95 !!! Bolts in their inventory. Alas, I cannot buy from them as a CT resident, because CT won't give me a CT EV incentive for an EV bought out of state. And RI won't give me an RI incentive because I'm not a state resident.

Any suggestions for my Bolt test drive (Saturday)

Thanks all! There are a few things on here I wouldn't have known to look at. My friend and I are both willing to overlook a lot of fit and finish stuff, as long as the seats are fixed (fingers crossed there's been an unannounced production line change). Oh, and as long as the price is right...

    Massachusetts / New England

Massey in RI is also very supportive. They have specially trained EV salespeople who will make an appointment to show you the Bolt and Volt. My local dealer, Valenti, seems excited about the pending arrival. Anybody in CT should be aware that if you buy out of state, you lose the $3,000 state...

Any suggestions for my Bolt test drive (Saturday)

I've been on/off this forum for months, and I'm aware of several issues (pro and con) raised here (especially seats). Well I'm !finally! taking my first CT test drive (with an EV fan friend) this Saturday. I'm wondering if any actual Bolt owners would care to point out anything they feel I...

Unfortunately Bolt is still a compliance car from GM

These disputes over the Bolt and compliance car stuff have been going on since it was released. I think the most honest answer is that the Bolt exists in a fuzzy zone between a compliance car and a full-fledged money making program (like a Honda Civic). I think a fair person would say GM...

Unfortunately Bolt is still a compliance car from GM

    >> Could you please supply sources for (links to) the 'interfering with making money', 'comments to the press', I don't have a dog in this fight, but your request is easily answered with a simple Google search (see below). Note that the GM VP in question didn't say in clear language "The Bolt...

    Massachusetts / New England

Bolts are now in selected RI dealerships according to cars.com. One dealership is already discounting $1,000 from day one, according to the posted prices. My local CT dealerships says "soon". You'd think GM would have sent them to CT sooner, given that sales ought to be good (CT has a $3,000 EV...
