Driving in L and brake lights

Thanks Patronus. I'd be interested in the source of this info, and whether the driver is given any indication of the accelerometer measurement (so we can know when the brake lights are illuminated). FYI, I did try searching on "0.1g", but came up empty, even though this expression appears...

Driving in L and brake lights

It may be presumable, but it is apparently false nonetheless. I've heard that the brake light does not remain on in this situation, and some Bolters are concerned that this could compromise safety. I have not tested it myself, and I am not overly concerned about the safety implications.

    Extended Warranty

Insurance company? The warranty was offered by my local Chevrolet dealer.

    Fit and Finish

I feel the same way. It's not like it's a giant eyesore, I did not even notice it until I'd had the car for over a month. So long as it does not indicate a structural problem or something installed incorrectly, it doesn't bother me. I looked at my rear hatch, and I see only a very slightly...

    Fit and Finish

Does this look right? The gap between front door and dashboard looks nice and small on the passenger side, and measures 1/8 inch. On the driver side, the same door/dashboard gap looks much wider and measures 3/8 inch. If this were a Tesla, I'd figure that's about the best they can do. But is...

Driving in L and brake lights

Always, or only sometimes? How about if you've already slowed to 3 mph. I don't think the paddle reactivates the brake lights in that case. It would be nice to have a complete answer as to when brake lights come on. I have not seen one yet.

    Extended Warranty

They offered me six years, unlimited miles for $1,300. Even their first offer was a lot less than $2,800. I didn't take it. I figured they know better than I do what their expected warranty costs would be.

    She's QUICK

And from the overhead view, it appears the Bolt wins by something like 12-15 meters. Does not seem believable.

    HOV Stickers

Actually, nothing could be simpler! When the DMV releases the new CAV HOV plate, it can release it in two versions - handicapped, and able-bodied. (ok, you tell me what the opposite of handicapped is). Either version can be personalized, just like the existing dozen or so designs. That is...

    HOV Stickers

I don't see why either of these things would be a problem. California already offers a dozen or so different plate designs, all of which can be personalized. No problem adding one more for CAVs. When/if the HOV access sunsets for CAVs, both drivers and police will know it and act accordingly...

    How to see charge rate

When I did this in my garage, the display did show an interruption, but the charge rate did also appear on the other display. Perhaps there is a momentary interruption and then charge resumes. The charge rate shown fluctuates between 7kw and 8kw on the display for my L2 device, which seems...

Problems, Bugs, Weird Stuff, Glitches, Concerns Here

That should work. Also, there is an 'auto launch' setting for Bluetooth connection in Android Auto settings. It can be turned off.

Cool new things you found out

No. That is not how it works. There is no creep in L with the door open. Opening the door forces the car into P with the parking brake set. The creep happens when your seatbelt is unfastened in L, not when the door opens. Automatically setting the brake when the door opens is good...

Cool new things you found out

Making customers safer by endangering them? ;) No, in fact it is clear that this is not the intent of this 'feature', because drivers are already prevented from exiting the vehicle while in L: 1. The car doors are automatically locked, until you shift into P. 2. Even if you try to defeat this...

Hyundai will annonce Ioniq EV for U.S. market

I think you're now making Sean's point for him. That is, if you produce an inferior product, you must price it lower if you hope to compete in the market. This is true whether you are Chevy or Hyundai. :)

Cool new things you found out

No, I did not mention 'Hill Start Assist', because it is irrelevant to the subject under discussion. Hill Start Assist will prevent the car from rolling backward while in a forward gear, and vice versa. It will NOT prevent the car from rolling forward while in L or D. What I did say, and...

Have you sold a Bolt yet?

I can't even clear that bar. I have had three people express serious interest, and one or two of them may well become buyers. But most people just seem to think I'm crazy, or at least foolish, to have bought an electric car.

Cool new things you found out

You misunderstood me. I'm not opposed to the automatic application of the parking brake, I am against enabling creep when the seatbelt is unbuckled. This is dangerous, and could hurt someone. I imagine Anton's family would agree with me wholeheartedly! Thanks for the suggestion, but a dealer...

Cool new things you found out

What IS very bad is that it does not always put the parking brake on when you remove the seatbelt. I've let it creep for a long distance in L. If you're not paying attention (which you probably aren't - you are focusing on whatever required you to unbuckle), this could easily cause a slow...

Hyundai will annonce Ioniq EV for U.S. market

Yes - performance. The Bolt is a whole lot peppier than the electric Ioniq. Aside from being as slow as molasses (and nearly as slow as a Prius!) the Ioniq looks like a nice car. But the range would also be inadequate for me. It would cover my regular commute, but any extra driving on a work...
