NOT HAPPY with brake lamps in L mode.

Eldrick, I recommend you should not drive a standard transmission, just in case you occasionally have to drive an automatic. Your reactions will not be trained, and you might kill someone while frantically stomping on a clutch that isn't there. Also, it would be safer if you don't drive an...

NOT HAPPY with brake lamps in L mode.

That solution is obvious to everyone. There's also another, more automated solution that has been adopted by Mercedes, Volvo, Kia, Porsche, Subaru, and others. The car puts its virtual foot on the brakes when stopped.

NOT HAPPY with brake lamps in L mode.

I don't have strong feelings on this issue, one way or the other. I suppose the best design would be an automated version of the "hold" feature that's been available for years on Mercedes, and I think other makes. I.e., if you stop in L, the Bolt would automatically apply brakes and illuminate...

NOT HAPPY with brake lamps in L mode.

Then you really need to get out more. This is extremely close-minded. EVs are actually different, in many ways. Is it really inconceivable that they could differ in one more way?"

NOT HAPPY with brake lamps in L mode.

Or, they could change if the car properly supported it - thru reliably stopping the car with regen, and leaving the brake light lit as appropriate.

Does the $9K loss figure "add up"?

Sure, it could happen, someday. My point is that no electric car currently in existence is anywhere near having earned such status, and electrics are still only around one percent of new cars sold. Electrics still have a long way to go before they can hope to change the world as much as the...

Does the $9K loss figure "add up"?

Are you sure? The Ford Fiesta is a nice little hatchback. I like my Bolt, but I have to admit the Fiesta is generally comparable except for the ICE. Fiesta base price is $14,835 for 2017. The Tin Lizzie sold for less than half the price of comparable competitors in its day. Getting the...

Does the $9K loss figure "add up"?

Agree. I still think the Model T comparison is instructive, mainly in showing how far EVs have yet to go. To achieve a breakthrough comparable to Mr. Ford's, the Bolt would have to sell for maybe $10,000, rather than $37,500 base. (Note that Ford did not need big government tax credits in...

Being kept in the dark after engine light got my car to the dealer

What would we do without engineers?

Being kept in the dark after engine light got my car to the dealer

Yours is now the fourth such case that I've heard of, including my own Bolt, which just went in today. One guy reported his car was in for 2 weeks, and he was finally told it needed a new A/C evaporator. My case may be different, as the car was unable to get to the dealer under its own power...

Does the $9K loss figure "add up"?

Your view is narrow-minded. In the very long term, flying nuclear-powered cars will soundly trounce electric cars. At which time SkyNet will become self-aware...

Anyone caught with their pants down?

Yes, in that app, on that very screen. It is right above the blue charge bar, on the far right side of the screen. Your screen shot shows "Full", where mine currently says "62%". My battery has never been full since the day I bought the car, so I've never seen the word "Full", but always see...

The seats are a deal killer.

I've been doing it anyway, had not seen that in the manual. There were no problems. I'm using a relatively thin cover on the seat bottom only, not the seat back. I think I could feel some heat from the bottom, as well as regular heat from the back. I'm in Southern California, so really have...

    Emergency brake light spontaneously lighting

That's a nice feature - I have it on my other car. But we don't have it on the Bolt. We do have something called Hill Start Assist, which is automatic (i.e. not activated by braking or hard braking), and only prevents rolling backward (forward if the car is in R).

Does the $9K loss figure "add up"?

I mostly agree, but I would instead say "happily, most aren't." It is because consumers demand cost efficiency that manufacturers are compelled to supply it. Auto makers will do their best to maximize profits, either by building us better, cheaper electric cars or by building us better...

Anyone caught with their pants down?

Yes. Technically, the app and the car's dashboard fuel gauge are equally accurate, but the dashboard is less precise, showing SOC (graphically) in 5% increments, rather than 1%.

Anyone caught with their pants down?

I've never run low on juice, so others surely know more than I. But it gives you SOC to within 1%, and has a roadside assistance request function, along with the 'find charging station' function you already mentioned. I didn't even know it had that.

Anyone else played video on their infotainment screen?

Yes. NTFS worked for me, exFAT did not. Some of my mp4 files work, some don't. I don't know why the ones that don't work don't work.
