    Global warming ...

The answer to this question is obvious. Investors eagerly throw billions of dollars at products that are anywhere close to being ready to command a large market. GM, Nissan, Tesla and others are already doing that for EVs, and have been for decades.

    Global warming ...

They really aren't. Technologies become popular when they are ready, and not a moment sooner. Do you imagine that you could have accelerated the development and popularity of television by purchasing an early TV set? Would personal computers be more ubiquitous today if you had bought a couple...

    Global warming ...

That was not the attitude I expressed. Nor is it the attitude of the US or its president. Try something that could work, and I'll be right there with you. Make a totally futile gesture that only makes you feel better about yourself and does nothing for anyone else - count me out.

    Global warming ...

And after China, then India, Africa, and Latin America. Making your electric motorcycle utterly pointless. Does your Bolt make a difference? Only in your imagination. In reality, it's an exercise in futility, no more saving the planet than a useless international treaty or a nice slogan on a...

    Global warming ...

You mean the attitude that a favorable end or outcome is desirable? That ineffectual, feel-good actions should be avoided, in favor of actions that may actually do some good? Let the world be aghast. I won't lose any sleep over that.

    Global warming ...

You can. To what end? 1. You feel superior. 2. No meaningful impact on the globe. 3. You're out $40,000 4. All of the above. There are far more noble things you can do with $40k.

    Global warming ...

Sure. Spending $40k on an electric car will fix that right up. ;)

Anyone else having trouble with going to fast?

Not just EVs. I replaced my 300ZX with a Lexus LS400. The first day, I noticed the speedometer a little over a hundred. I'd have sworn I was under 70 - that's how much smoother the luxury car ride was than the little sports car. I've had no such problem with the Bolt - it does not feel like...

Anyone else having trouble with going to fast?

A Bolt? Was she exasperated when it refused to go over 93?

    Trouble exiting to Chevrolet Mode

Yes, that's a bug, I had that a lot when I first got my Bolt. Since I learned that the physical Home button worked reliably, I just use that now. I'd have thought they would have fixed the soft button by now, but I guess not.

Problems, Bugs, Weird Stuff, Glitches, Concerns Here

Yes, I get this intermittently also. The software update did not fix it, the dealer service guys have no clue. Bad software is more likely than bad hardware.

    Infotainment wonkiness

Yes, I've gotten #1 a lot, and am finding it too broken for phone calls. I am also running v14.1, and this problem seems to have gotten worse since I updated from v13. I generally don't use the presets, so have no info on #2. If you truly enjoy beating your head against a wall, then yes, you...

    Infotainment and cluster screens

I'm skeptical. It seems unlikely GM would make a car that way - needing a removable film to stay on to prevent glare. Does any car manufacturer do that? Do you have hard evidence, or are you just guessing? My car was delivered without a removable film. I also have no problem with glare on...

Southern California Edison offers $450 credit to any EV/PHEV drivers

Thanks cranial. It didn't take 5 minutes to complete the form online. Please let me know if anyone else would like to give me free money for no good reason. ;)

Ioniq vs Bolt: 124 miles or $9,280?

Agree. The Bolt has enough range to last me all day, every day. The Ioniq would often need daytime recharging. Life is too short for range anxiety and twice-a-day charges. I would not consider Ioniq. I also agree the Bolt is much peppier and more fun to drive; range and cost are not the...

The Apr 2017 EV Sales Numbers are in (1292 Bolts)

Yes, I also agree with this. Either margin is too low (negative) or they feel QA is not yet ready for large volume sales. Bolt is a nice product with multiple big-time awards. Inept as they may sometimes be, GM certainly could sell many tens of thousands if they really wanted to. I would...

The Chevy Bolt Is the Ugly Car of the (Very Near) Future

Yes, I got that. And I enjoy a good rant as much as the next guy. But the Bolt does not fit any definition of the word today, because it is not an economy car. It is too expensive to be an econobox, econocar, or economy car.

The Chevy Bolt Is the Ugly Car of the (Very Near) Future

You missed the point entirely. 'Out by a mile' is fine. 'Literally out by a mile' is not, because the runner was figuratively out by a mile.

The Chevy Bolt Is the Ugly Car of the (Very Near) Future

Hello Mike - Yes, many people don't take it that way, especially younger people. But that is in fact the origin of the term econobox, which became common in the 1970s. I know, because I was there. Boxiness is the distinction between an "econobox" and an "econocar". Better dictionaries do...

    Bolt or Volt?

:D Yes, I really should enforce the rules of the language in a more consistent and impartial manner, shouldn't I? Perhaps we can agree that the Bolt resembles an econobox (i.e. it is "econoboxy") with respect to interior finishes and features. But I still have to draw the line at flat-out...
