Torque steer - what's with that?

I must be getting used to it. Yesterday someone in a pickup crossed the double line to pass me as I started up a steep hill. That didn't happen! Seeing this car, quite a distance back, in my rear view mirror I realized that I didn't notice the torque steer. Maybe it was the hill, then maybe I...

Torque steer - what's with that?

Right, EVs have instant torque, ICEs do not so it's more noticeable. It's not a race car and if you keep slightly under full pedal there is little if any torque steer. The Michelins are very good tires, there's really no reason to complain about them, if you want a 'hot hatchback' go buy one...

Torque steer - what's with that?

GM chose to address torque steer with the traction control. I've jumped on it and it's not out of control. While I prefer RWD cars, I'll live with it for three years and see what's out then. The car is so good that I figure the few times I nail it are what you get in a first gen car. It's not a...

How Do You Turn Off the Radio?

I just played around with the radio again. If you set the radio menu to "off" (see my instructions above) it works like any other radio. That is, when the car is turned on the radio returns to the same level as when the car was turned off.

How Do You Turn Off the Radio?

Must be a pretty good car if this is what people are complaining about! "A bitching sailor is a happy sailor" as the old expression goes. Hat's off to GM- good job!

How Do You Turn Off the Radio?

I does work for us and by the way one of my jobs is programming embedded uC's (microcontrollers) in assembly language.

How Do You Turn Off the Radio?

I'm not sure you understand. The menu allows you to set the volume when the car comes on from "off" to loud so even if you have the volume loud when you turn the car off this is a simple way to have the volume off when the car is turned back on. It doesn't seem like a big deal to me, I just...

How Do You Turn Off the Radio?

Try this: Audio/ menu/ auto volume/ select off and turn the radio on and the volume all the way down. When the car comes on it should be off. Rob ps: You can also reach these in the "Settings" menu.

You guys should change this to the Bolt argument thread! Geeze, does anyone in the world get along anymore?

    Wheels Brainstorming Thread

I live in cold country and I noticed the tires that came with my Bolt were Michelin M&S. What tires do you guys in warm climates get? I noticed the traction is pretty good although I haven't nailed it from a dead stop, I'm usually going 20 mph or more.

    LT Cloth Seats

We have the Bolt with cloth seats and have no complaints. I know there's a lot of noise about narrow seats but we have taken a couple of 2 hour trips with no seat issues. Time will tell as for durability, I was thinking about getting covers, is anyone making them yet? I didn't want leather...

    Driving in "L" on freeways?

Bob, good question. I'm still getting used to the 'D' and 'L' but right now I'm using 'L' a little more. We live out in the country and I have one stop sign between our house and town which is 8 miles away. I think in 'L' you have to be a little more aware of your foot position on the pedal, if...

Do you think I'll be able to tow a small boat with the Bolt?

My take is that the trailer hitch GM sells to fit the Bolt is not for towing but for bike racks and the such. I scanned through most of the posts here but didn't see anywhere that a trailer connect cable was found or listed. I won't be using my trailer with this car, I'd say proceed with...

How many actual Bolt owners on this forum?

Thanks, I could live with the Leaf but my wife hated it. Ride height is higher and ride smoother. I don't know about interior room but it looks bigger and feels better on the road. I thought the Leaf looked almost sub compact with a really harsh ride. I watched most of them, Fully Charged...

How many actual Bolt owners on this forum?

I pick mine up Monday - May 8th 2017. Test drove it today and was not expecting to buy it as all I saw were YT vids but we loved it! Ride height, room and ride beat the pants off the Leaf. Hope it holds up! 3 year lease. Rob

Will the Chevy Bolt EV be a 'game changer'?

That's certainly a good question, I imagine the Tesla S people will know how severe the mileage drop is at low temps. I live in the Catskill Mountains and we see 20 below Fahrenheit. I'm retired so going out in that cold is a rare occasion. Still it's one of the reasons the low range Leaf wasn't...

    A Car Dealers Won’t Sell: It’s Electric

Unfortunately it's the way of the world. The dollar dictates the justifications for our actions, people are last. Yo notice the owner of the dealership doesn't lose, only the employees.

    A Car Dealers Won’t Sell: It’s Electric

Thanks for that link, interesting viewpoint from the salesman. A couple of things - I'm wondering if dealers are forced to take cars in from the manufacturer that they wouldn't normally stock. The dealer I drove the Leaf from had no idea what he was selling, neither did the salesman. The...

Will the Chevy Bolt EV be a 'game changer'?

I haven't seen the Bolt yet. I did drive the Leaf, not hard but as if I owned it and would drive on a daily basis. When I was younger I drove Porsche 911's. They were fast and handled well so I understand the younger set wanting some pep in their cars. Too bad you don't get a motor option like...
