I have calculated that my highway penalty is 14%, based on 7,000 miles of a commute that is mostly (75%) highway. That 14% EXCLUDES the energy used for HVAC or battery conditioning. So a 20-30% knockdown is a good guess.

The Volt (or equivalent) is a step backwards for them in their quest to create sustainable transportation. It's dead end technology.

The last thing I want to do on a routine basis is go to a Chevy dealer. Putting 50kW chargers at dealers is dramatically different than Tesla Superchargers at locations convenient for long distance travel.

Tesla's have route elevation and speed based range prediction.
