No Bolts In Canada - 12 Month Wait??!!!

I've seen several comments in the press about a global battery shortage. Supply of batteries for electric cars isn't meeting demand. So when there are enough batteries, perhaps GM could make 50,000 Bolts per year. Unlike Tesla with their own battery factory, GM sources batteries from South...

11 Reasons why people don't buy EV's and why they are wrong

For reasonable commuting, you don't need 200 mile plus range. Sure, those few people with 150 mile round trip commutes need even more than 200 mile range For the median commute of 20 miles, just about any modern EV should be a joy and a pleasure.

Second Replacement Battery In Three Months

Yes, the Leaf warranty specifies only to get the battery back above the 9 bar threshold. As far as I've heard, Nissan has been installing new batteries for warranty replacements. The reason seems to be that the best and the worst cells in a battery are not all that different, so there is little...

    AppleCarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth Issues

As a developer, I always assumed that version numbers didn't have a cost. Increment for any excuse. Of course, I usually didn't get to roll the major number, only the minor number.

GM Marketplace coming to Bolt entertainment system?

Great for the once per year trip to buy gas for the power washer.

Metric system, was Trip Report: Bakersfield to Grover Beach in a Bolt--Mileage Estimates Off

The American version of the English system such as the inch and pound(mass) are all defined in metric units. We kind of use the metric system, only with some funny multipliers added to every unit, and some other silliness all of which mostly just makes the math harder. This is why NASA crashed a...

I would answer: "Free, broken, pay for, maybe and no." Of and ICED, of course.

JDapter (trademark) Tesla Charging for all

To reduce the cost they knockoff companies will remove the safety features required by the charging standards. You can already buy such cables. I'd suggest that you... Don't even think about it.

JDapter (trademark) Tesla Charging for all

I would love to find lots of hotels with L2 charging for guest use only. I'd would love it if most hotels had L2 charging for guest use only.

    The "Cult" of Tesla

Probably far more cars than could be made. Growing production of batteries by 20% a year will be a challenge. Beyond that, risks and costs increase sharply. Tesla is taking risks. Spending a lot of money that might not payback. They might grow much faster than 20% per year. They might go...

    The "Cult" of Tesla

That is an important reason, for sure. But main? I don't agree. Convenience is probably a bigger factor. Quiet, smoothness are up there as well. If you live in an area with low electric prices, a BEV can be the cheapest transportation, as well as being nicer that alternatives.

    Rats! (actually probably mice)

We had a rat in the garage. Chewed through the windshield washer hose on one car, insulation on wires, etc. A rat trap, old fashioned kind with a wood base, was baited with peanut butter and a piece of dog food. End of problem, other than fixing both cars and cleanup.

"Have you noticed a dramatic increase in your electricity bill since charging your Clarity Plug-in Hybrid? " I didn't select a clarity plug-in hybrid. I suspect a programming error.

    Hello from ChargePoint!

Also there are regional variations. I don't see many electric cars when I visit family in New England. Almost none. I see lots of electric cars at home. The two closest workplace L2 stations locally are almost 100% utilized during the day, the only way to be sure of a charge at work was to get...

Any concerns with never fully charging battery

Yes, the connection is a USB connection, and there is a +5V pin and 6 data pins. 2 lower speed bidirectional lines, and (probably) 2 high speed pairs, one each direction. Some older/cheaper phones will not have the high speed pairs. Sorry, but no. The voltage is needed to enable the data. No...

    power surge

Like any electric or electronic thing, there are limits. The car's charger can take 240V AC as part of normal operation as can the charging cable or EVSE, so anything less than that should be no problem. One problem that sounds like what happened to your neighborhood is an open neutral...
