Bolt OEM Tires v. Summer Tire Performance

I had Continental EcoPlus tires way back in 2004 on my first hybrid car. Those are the ones that lasted 86,000 miles for me. I liked them.

Bolt OEM Tires v. Summer Tire Performance

I put really grippy UHP Summer tires on my front. I noticed less squeal (down to none) in fast corners, but the car will still spin the tires when accerating full throttle on a full charge. I agree with the article. Grippier tires are nice if you don’t mind a small hit in range. My change...

    MyChevrolet app notifications not working

Some people in another thread have stated they wish they knew how old the data was on the myChevy App. When it was last updated. It tells you. On the iPhone version, at least. See photos.

    MyChevrolet app notifications not working

I’m pretty sure number 1 is not true. I have not utilized hilltop reserve in a long time, but when I did back in march or april I remember it notified me when done. Or, the converse, I would have been upset and remembered NOT being notified. That didn’t happen. Number 2 is FOR SURE not true...

    ~~ This could change EVERYTHING! .. ~~

Vehicle to Grid ( or V2G ) has been expermented with for over 10 years. I participated in a small scale version in 2007. Well, not participated with my car (I didn’t have a BEV at the time) but I watched others do it. Yes. It is like net metering. You get credited with what you give, and...

Has there been an update to Apple CarPlay in the States?

Ditto. My old car had an aftermarket head unit that ran off Windows CE. I could add whatever I wanted. There was an optional speed sensor that could/would disable features when speed was over 1 mph. I liked that I could keep track of gallons pumped and dollars spent while parked at gas...

Has there been an update to Apple CarPlay in the States?

Are there any CarPlay apps that are not music or podcast or audio book related? (Other than maps) I’d love a notepad, calculator, calendar, spredsheet to track trips, etc. on the bolt screen.

    Nitrogen in the tires

I looked it up. I was about to say the main difference is water content, but someone beat me to it. Compressed air will vary, but undried air can have up to 10,000 ppm (parts per million) water vapor. Nitrogen is most commonly distilled from air. Nitrogen purchased in high pressure...

    "Full" battery levels dropping daily

I did this a third time. This is East Bay California. Daytime highs in the 70’s. Lows in the 60’s. Did a complete recharge at between 72 degrees (start) and 68 degrees (end). Did really conservative driving for the third “tank” in a row. I have kept my miles per kWh at 4.0 for nearly 800...

    Nitrogen in the tires

The reason nascar and airlines use nitrogen is more simple than you think. The cylinders contain up to 2500 psi. Want to fill a tire FAST? Use higher pressure. Also- you don’t need electricity (aka compressor). You can fill tires “anywhere”. It has nothing to do with chemistry. It...

Is there a 12 volt battery

The Bolt EV will maintain the 12v battery from the HV battery when parked. It’s all on the other web site from the link below. The Bolt EV sends 14.1 to 14.4 volts to the 12 volt battery while plugged in, according to other posters.

    "Full" battery levels dropping daily

So I tested this again. I drove even more conservatively. Last “tank” I averaged 4.1 mi/kWh. It’s the miles per kWh that counts. It does not matter how cold it is or how much cabin heat I used if I drove slower to compensate. I just did a full charge up. I got 229 miles on the range gauge...

myChevrolet app vehicle status does not update

An example of when it gave the day and time. Sometimes it only gives the time. Also note “Full” is not the same as “Complete”. My battery is full but still charging, and was at 218 miles when “Complete”.

    Ms. Barra's '18 Bolt to-do list

Not surprising. There is also a typo in the users manual that says the Bolt charges at up to 80 kw. The actual upper limit is 60 kw on the digital on screen display in the car. (And I heard 60 kw at a few pre-release press conferences.) Not anything to cry over, as a DCFC at 80 kw if it...

LT Options - what's worth it, what's not?

Two things you need: DCFC and RED color. Everything else is frosting on the cake. :D I could get by without DCFC, but since I have it, I use it 2 or 3 times per month. It gives you much more freedom and piece of mind. There are A LOT of public charging areas that only have DCFC...

    Chevy electronic “brochure” photo

Another one. “Brochure” photo probably shows an earlier version of the software. Why are some bars greyed out? Does this imply: Driving Technique carries a weight of 10? Terrain carries a weight of 7? Climate Settings a weight of 3? Outside temperature a weight of 3? Maybe something they...

If driving is 24% of your usage, And climate control is 4%, And battery conditioning is 0%, What is the other 72% used on?

myChevrolet app vehicle status does not update

That’s odd you guys have so much trouble. Mine has been nearly flawless. Except for two days or so when there was a system wide outage, mine has been very reliable. I give mine a 99% rating. It must be geography related. Maybe there is poor reception in your area. It is slow, and I...

    Loss of miles / charge

There are all types, sizes and shapes of batteries out there. It seems to hold true that deep discharge cycles are bad for all of them. Even “deep cycle” lead-acid batteries that are better suited for this, still are healthier if you don’t do deep discharges. While we are familiar with NiCd...

    Winter Driving, what’s your experience?

Just a data point here. I did the opposite. I live in the San Francisco Bay area. I love the instant torque and 200 HP. This is the most powerful car I have ever owned. I love the quickness off the line, especially when needing to get ahead of someone to change lanes, etc. I disliked the...
