    Battery Climate Control?

Do the batteries really get damaged at any low temperature, or just become unusable? These are “dry” cells. Not sure what, if anything can freeze.

horn that honks when you leave the key fob in the car

I have a problem with racoons.... 40 pound racoons, getting in the car.

Did not stop or slow in low

No that’s not it. L will not hold the car in place if your seat belt is off. This is to prevent you from getting out of the car with the gear select in L. L also only holds you still on FLAT surfaces. Hill Hold (or assist whatever they call it) will apply the brakes and hold you still on...

Bolt EV powers down while driving, with "Minimum" 15 miles charge remaining

Apparently some people in this thread feel gasoline powered cars are much more reliable. They probably feel gasoline cars never stall unexpectedly. That gasolone cars never run out of gas unexpectedly. That gasoline cars never have a battery go dead unexpextedly. Never have an altermator...

Amazing low cost to run an EV

Yes here also. In the USA it varries by state. But gasoline taxes are 20% to 30% of the cost of gasoline. In CA they want to (maybe it started in 2018?) put a $100/yr flat fee on electric vehicles for road repair, since we are not paying gasoline tax. Edit: looks like they have not...

152 mile range when fully charged?

Slow down by 2 mph for every 10 degree temperature drop and your driving range will be the same, if you don’t use cabin heating.

another low range on full charge question

Just reset your trip meter. You can do this any time. Know in your head you have 59.5 kWh on a full charge in above 70 degree weather. Probably 59.0 kWh on a full charge in 60 degree. Probably 58.0 kWh in 50 degree weather. Probably 56.5 kWh in 40 degree weather. In your head (or use a...

    2018 Bolt Release Date

And how would you charge that up? Plug one 50 kw CCS into each side? What’s the point if the ENTIRE QC network (not with a Tesla icon) is 50 kw or less? You know, Tesla sells, as an option, two L2 charge ports on their cars.... so people with the power can charge at 100 amps at home. (~25 kw...

How to Turn Off Infotainment Screen

If you hold down the power button, mine pops up with a screen “Do you wish to enter low power mode?” If yes, the screen goes dark, but all functionality remains. Pressing any button or knob lights up the screen for 10 seconds then it goes dark again. Try it. Try adjusting the volume up after...

    Battery Thermal Management

It’s all about HOW you drive, more than the outdoor temperature. If you start at -20 degrees, get in, and drive till empty, you will go about 200 miles. If you do many, many short trips, all from a cold start, followed by a cold restart, followed by a cold restart, you may only get about 110...

    Baby it’s cold outside

Here’s the thing- The moment you start driving, the batteries start warming up. Using them, warms them by nature. Sure there’s more friction in cold, dense air, blah blah blah........ but if there is snow or ice, or chances of it on the road, you should be driving slower by enough to more...

Bolt EV powers down while driving, with "Minimum" 15 miles charge remaining

It’s not a feature. It’s probably a one time glitch. Mine does not behave like that. Mine did just as the manual says. I’ve gone down to one Orange Bar. Then maximum power was reduced, but the car was very driveable (at city speeds).

Amazing low cost to run an EV

I fit into this category. Free charging available at work. Free (Solar) charging available at my college. Free charging available at my Doctor’s parking garage. Free charging available at many local retailers. And I shop those retailers. (This is Bay Area, CA and public charging is almost...

What if I Run Out of Charge (and stall)?

AAA will also tow an EV to a charging station, since they cannot deliver fuel to you. I confirmed this with my Califonia office. I’m curious what does the car actually do? Shut off at some point (or refuse to take throttle commands) Or go slower and slower until you are not moving?

    "Full" battery levels dropping daily

I agree with Brian. Your car is fine. However, here is what is interesting. I made it a point to drive slower in winter, to counterbalance my brief heater use... usually just the first 5 minutes to dry my windows. I made it a point to keep my average at 4.0 miles per kwh. AND MY...

    EVgo road trip check

^ This statement is just not true and should be deleted. In California, I have been to many that go past 30 minutes without needing to restart. ( they did shut off after 60 minutes ) This is a setting that may vary by location. Really busy locations may have a 30 minute timer to “keep the line...

    L1/L2 Charger Conversion

Me too. Remember you get the same 12 amps, only the voltage is double, so = double the wattage. You will get about 6 to 8 miles per hour of charging instead of 3 to 4.

Wards Auto - Bolt EV Powertrain - 10 best for 2018

I think it’s more a case of batteries are hard to come by. If they had 1 million orders, they wouldn’t be able to fill them at this time.
