    What MPGe are you getting?

I always get exactly the mileage / range advertised: 238 miles per charge, when in ideal weather conditions, which is exactly the weather condition used to form the advertised ratings. This car works as advertised. Period.

New “feature”? I can turn on the radio in my Bolt without pressing the Start button. At all. (Key Fob was in my pocket.) Previously known: To roll down windows or use climate control, you can press and hold the start button for 5 seconds WITHOUT FOOT ON BRAKE PEDAL. This will NOT start the...

    YAMMV - Close call

It is a percentage. Automatic 10 miles drop on a full battery. 5 miles on a half battery. 1 mile on a nearly depleted battery. HOWEVER... this is too optimistic. In reality, in San Francisco “winter” heat uses 22 to 25% of the battery power / range. In Chicago winter, it is more like...

    YAMMV - Close call

The GOM is using the same data to calculate a number as you and I do. Miles per kWh and kWh in the battery. It’s really simple. No magic involved. You have a FIXED amount of kWh in your battery. Probably 58.5 out of 60 advertised is usable. So use 58.5. If your miles per kWh goes down...

    "Free" heat in cabin

I wish it could do that but is doesn’t. The first week I had mine I was fooled into thinking it could. I thought the car only had an electric heater like a plug in space heater for your home. I used heat for my first trip then turned it off and parked for half an hour. Drove on my second...

Problems, Bugs, Weird Stuff, Glitches, Concerns Here

I was doing work (and some play) on my cell phone. The time went by pretty fast actually. Then “clunk” and eveything goes dark except for the cell phone attached to USB kept charging. I know the radio and probably the USB stays on for 10 minutes after YOU turn the car off.... until you open...

Problems, Bugs, Weird Stuff, Glitches, Concerns Here

When you sit in Park with the car “on” (like at a charge station but you want to use heat) the car shuts off automatically after 2 hours. But the USB port stayed active and continued to charge my phone. I was on a DCFC and because of low temperatures it took longer than 2 hours to put in 75%...

    Chevy Bolt MyChevy app

Thanks! Most informative! This CONFIRMS what I said 2 years ago. “THE MAXIMUM POSSIBLE CHARGE RATE IN THE FIRST GENERATION BOLT EV IS 60 kw. (Not the often incorrectly reported 80 kw) This code decipher shows max charge current allowed under “ideal” conditions is 150 amps. Since the peak...

    Regen question

Anyone ever have regen totally disabled? I just did for the first time. Was on a DCFC. Going on a long weekend trip. No one was waiting so I sat there and let it sit to go to 100%. It got to 100%. The car, the my chevy app, and the charger all said 100%. And it kept charging and charging...

    Level 2 charger

The sell at many hardware stores (or online) factory made 6-50 to 5-15 converters. For welding machines. I’ve used one at my workplace to connect to my Bolt and it worked great. It is store bought and there was no fancy label or warning. The 6-50 was actually on a 208 v circuit but the Bolt...

    Regen question

Cruise control works great in D also on hilly terrain. I love it does not run away or accelerate in the least on downhill sections. I’m in N. Calif. and never had a hill too steep for D. L is for lots of speed changes. City with stop lights/signs, or bumper to bumper stop-N-go. D is for...

    Set time zone on clock?

Something is wrong with your car. Mine automatically keeps perfect time and automatically adjusted from Daylight Savings to Standard time. I do not subscribe to OnStar. I’ve never paid a dime for it. I did notice it took 15 or 20 minutes to make the 1 hour change to standard time. At...

Problems, Bugs, Weird Stuff, Glitches, Concerns Here

Today I went to three different Level 2 chargers. Each time my car would not charge. Each time the ChargePoint EVSE said “waiting on vehicle”. Two out of three times my vehicle display at the SPEEDO said “charge plug not completely inserted”. One time I got nothing in the car. I did...

Problems, Bugs, Weird Stuff, Glitches, Concerns Here

With car “on”: I just noticed when I plug into a Level 3 (DCFC) the parking brake automatically sets. When I plug into a standard Level 2 charger, no parking brake set.

    Battery capacity measurement method

I could not get the Kill-a-watt meter to work with my standard 120 VAC charge cord. It would give the red fault light on the EVSE every time.

First Use of JDapter Stub for Tesla Destination Charger to Chevy Bolt

I’d say I’d have to use it more than 10 times to make it a worthwhile purchase. ($25 per use) In a year and a half, I have never run into a case where I needed it or wished I had one. I go on long trips too. I find DCFC and L2 adequate with some opportunity L1 charging mixed in...

EVgo DC chargers were horrible up until the beginning of 2018. They're still not perfect, but improvement is being made.

EvGo just sent me a bill (invoice) for charging I did 45 days ago. I was one click away from submitting a fraudulent charge report to my bank because I knew I hadn’t used any in recent memory. I sure like how ChargePoint bills you (and collects) right away.

EVgo DC chargers were horrible up until the beginning of 2018. They're still not perfect, but improvement is being made.

Is that really how it is billed or did you get it backwards? EVERY charge station I have used (probably nearly 50 of them by now) either charges a constant rate, or the prices go UP after 1, 2, or 3 hours to encourage you to MOVE and not hog that stall all day.

    Clicking Noise From Steering

I had my rack & pinion parts replaced today. Steering column would rattle when going over pot holes or washboard road. Also developed a tiny amount of “play”. Interestingly they had to drain and refill one of the coolent reserviors in the process (it didn’t say which). Then they had to...

EVgo DC chargers were horrible up until the beginning of 2018. They're still not perfect, but improvement is being made.

Both are rated at 100 amps / 500 V but the Bolt was only taking ~325 volts. So a 50 kw charger is not always a 50 kw charger. How many volts should the Bolt take at 50% charge? I routinely get 47 kw out of ChargePoint chargers which would put them close to 150 amps. It sounds like they...
