Electrify America's DCFC Stations Favor CCS Charging Standard

Or China starts exporting vehicles to the US (there are actually a few US startups for EVs funded by the Chinese). I really doubt that China will sell EVs with GB/T in the US (although the upcoming version of the standard is supposed to be compatible with CHAdeMO v3).

Electrify America's DCFC Stations Favor CCS Charging Standard

There's no reason they CAN'T - but it won't necessarily be easy or inexpensive (spoken as someone who has written software for products that MUST NOT fail, and done the painstaking, back-breaking job of testing it). However, my point was you were not using a valid example, as selling cars with...

Electrify America's DCFC Stations Favor CCS Charging Standard

Re, the bolded, italic above : this is the wrong argument. CCS uses the same over-the-line protocol in Europe and the U.S. - it is simply the plug that is different. CHAdeMO uses a different protocol entirely. ( Tesla came out with a CHAdeMO/Tesla converter years ago because their fast charging...

    charger reservations?

I think that you'd have to call the hotel directly and ask. Tell them that they MUST guarantee an EV charger, and that it MUST be in the reservation notes, and that they MUST send you an email confirmation listing the EV charging requirement. Then, the day you plan on showing up, call them in...

(Generic) news of DCFC in Calif

Oh, and a 3-unit ChargePoint install went live last month down near where I-5 and CA-99 meet (Wheeler Ridge, mailing address Lebec) at the Denny's. They are the 125A (50 kW) Tritium Veefil units. (Edit: Correction: have NO idea why I originally typed "Buttonwillow" - chargers are in Wheeler...

(Generic) news of DCFC in Calif

A couple of weeks ago, the EA site at the Great Mall in Milpitas went live. Plugshare says 2 units, EA site says 4 plugs. The chargers are "150 kW".

(Generic) news of DCFC in Calif

The first Caltrans site (rest area) quietly went live less than a month ago. It is FREE, solar powered (so careful about depending upon it at night) and about halfway between Salinas and Pismo Beach. Technically, there are two : one in the southbound rest area, and one in the northbound. Camp...

Transformer Installed at EA's Bakersfield Station

Based on pictures posted (thx for whoever did that!) these are ABB units. Nobody has yet said what the max rate of the 4 different chargers are (on plugshare), although at least one is 350 kW, based on a photo of the tag on the unit. If somebody charges there, could you update the description...

    Bolt has gone haywire

My first guess s that the 12V battery has very low voltage and the computers are confused. There is a physical key in the key fob. Use it to unlock the door. pop the hood, and test the voltage on your 12V ("accessory" ) battery. Or, if you don't have a voltmeter, and none of your neighbor's do...

Recargo's DCFC Station Contract on 101 in Central California

The unit at Cool Hand Lukes, although *branded* "Bosch" is the same ies-synergy 24 kW unit that ChargePoint sold (they have dropped it). ies-synergy is the manufacturer, and it is re-branded by many companies. (You probably know that, but I post the info here so many more will know it.) Bosch...

Recargo's DCFC Station Contract on 101 in Central California

The 24 kW stations (re)sold by Chargepoint had massive reliability problems. Their other stations didn't have those problems (that I know of). The CP stations on the southern portion of US-101 (Salinas and points south) were almost exclusively 24 kW stations.

DCFC: Difficult "handshake" to initiate charge

Spark EVs seem to be able to successfully charge at EA locations where BTCP chargers are installed. However, Spark EVs are having ABB charging problems across the US. (the charge routinely fails during the "initializing" stage.) On Monday, July 15, a Spark EV owner met with reps of both EA and...

What do I do, if I lock my Key Fob in car?

You asked " What do I do, if I lock my Key Fob in car? " - that question has been answered. Now if you have misplaced your key+fob and want to drive the car ... Buy a third fob, pair it with the car (described in the manual), then wrap it in anti-static (radio-wave impervious) paper - or better...
