Buying 2020 Bolt - do i buy LT or Premier Trim?

I suggest going to edmunds.com (or kbb.com) and look at what the packages contain to see what you want. "Is it worth it" is entirely subjective, and changes for each individual.

    Reoccuring Rodent Damage

I know you were kidding, but this isn't a "Bolt EV only" sort of problem. In terms of wiring, many manufacturers have started using wire insulation that is plant-based, and mice nibble at them. And a little story. When I was living in France a long time ago, I went out in the morning to start...

    Reoccuring Rodent Damage

You can also spray a 1/2 water 1/2 Sriracha solution on the wires and around the heater intake. (Put newspaper under where you are spraying so that it is only on the wires.) Most rodents (and skunks, and possum, and ...) HATE highly spicy smells and stay away.

Has anyone driven a Bolt S.F. Bay Area to Tahoe or Yosemite yet?

I never noticed before, but it looks like when a mod (well, at least for me) edits their own post, it doesn't show up has being modified. It's not an option (AFAIK), it is the default. Strange.

Should I feel confident buying a used high-mileage Bolt?

I was responding to YOUR question : " how can you discern the previous owner’s reason to sell? "

Chevrolet announces update to all 2017-2019 Bolts with fast charging

There may be another difference (the behavior is this way on the 2020 Bolt) : change of the charging profile. Before the 2020 model, DCFC would "step down" the charging rate when certain points were hit. IIRC, at around 50-55 % SoC, the charge steps down very quickly from 150A (~55 kW) right...

EV tax credit delaying IRS refund?

Self employment tax is taxable income. It is listed on your tax form as a tax (on your 1040). It is added into your total tax liability. Now, unless the law on the EV tax credit specifically says "only if you are an employee" (which I doubt), it is a tax. It doesn't matter if you have to write a...

Should I feel confident buying a used high-mileage Bolt?

No, you can't KNOW why the previous owner deided to sell. But the OP didn't say he was buying from an individual - a lease return makes perfect sense as a reason to "get rid of" a car after 3 years. Something that you should know, since you did the exact same thing (returned a 2017 Bolt for a...

    experience with lease return process?

Paul - Did you mean "why did you lease the Bolts?" or "how much did you pay for the lease?" (both are valid interpretations of your comment ;) )

(Generic) news of DCFC in Calif

I'm not going to watch a 25 minute video of a guy talking to himself in a car to find out. For anybody that watched it : - did he do it, yes or no? - if he did, how did he bridge the gap between Bishop and Mojave? Did he stop at an L-2 for a while? Or did he just drive slowly? As an aside, if...

New to EVs, buying a used Bolt in a few months. Which accessories / equipment do I need?

I suggest going to edmunds.com and pretend you are buying a new Bolt. It will tell you all the available options on a 2020, so you can at least have an idea of what options are available, and decide which ones you think are important. If you ever plan on driving further than 200 miles away from...

(Generic) news of DCFC in Calif

Mid- (ish) 2020 update : Thanks to (just) Electrify America, one can now travel in a Bolt from Tijuana (well, Chula Vista just N of there) all the way up CA to Sacramento along either I-5 or CA99 to Sacramento, then up to Yreka, and then all the way through OR and WA into Canada, using I-5...

    12 volt AGM battery

But if you insist on buying another trickle charger, I own this one. Very gentle (0.8A), AGM-safe, perfect for gentle overnight "top-up" charging : https://www.amazon.com/CTEK-56-865-Smart-Battery-Charger/dp/B002QUT8IC/...

    12 volt AGM battery

Recommendation : Regularly unplug the trickle charger from the VW, and plug in the Bolt. Do it at least overnight, once a week, when not driving the Bolt at all (or almost not at all). Or, better yet, swap the trickle charger to mainly be on the Bolt, and plug in the VW overnight once a...

Siemens Versicharger Dead After Only 5 Years. Ugh!

Well, it depends on what you want / need. Many people have said that after buying and installing a 32A (or 40A) EVSE, they realized that they didn't need one that "big". Time necessary to charge 50% of battery (~ 30 kWh) : ~40 hours : level 1 120V, 8A (stock EVSE that came with car) ~28...

Sudden problem charging my 2017 Volt

This is a Bolt forum (an all-electric vehicle). I believe that it might be called the "Opel Ampera-e" in Europe. Are you asking about a Volt (a plug-in Electric/gasoline hybrid) ? If so, this is the wrong forum for that.

Chevrolet announces update to all 2017-2019 Bolts with fast charging

There shouldn't be a difference in charging behavior between a 350 kW and a 150 kW DCFC (on a Bolt), as they both provide more than the maximum amps the Bolt will pull. The Bolt will charge at a max of 150 Amps up to around 50-52% SoC (depending on battery temp - if really cold or really hot, it...

Well, maybe they take amazing care of their vehicles. But looking at the line for 2012 and 2013 LEAFs, that degradation looks like complete ********.
