So are we all going to end up buying our cars after our leases are up?

So here's the big question... The tax credit is gone, so the price on used Bolts will probably skyrocket when this first round of leases turns in. I'm happy with my car, but I'd sure like faster fast charging, which will probably be a thing in 2020 - Is everybody planning on buying Kias or...

OTA Bolt EV software update through OnStar

Yeah I think you're right, the update completely breaks what was a picky system to being with. I can't for the life of me get ANY videos to play (JPEGS show, so I know it's not my thumb drive) I've tried every encoding scheme in Handbrake, every extension, every CODEC, a mess of different...

OTA Bolt EV software update through OnStar

I did the update, but I don't encode movies to MP4, so it didn't bother me. Getting full screen Android Auto was worth the update. You could just re-encode your videos?

Center Rear-View Mirror/Camera in Cabin Gets Very Warm

Yup, it does that. It's fine. Or at least mine's been doing that for two years to no ill effect. Funny, I was just thinking about how long the display was going go last the other day. I don't know how many other digital mirrors there out there, or what their maintenance and failure situation...

Best solvent to remove California CAV sticker residue?

Now, I know technically I can get extended red CAV stickers for my car, but I'm never single occupancy ANYWAY, and the white ones just turned in to pumpkins... Has anybody had any luck with getting the "VOID VOID VOID" sticker residue off the bumpers? I can say that denatured alcohol really...

Rumors of adaptive cruise control? And more?

This is where I read it... https://www.autoblog.com/2018/10/04/2019-chevy-volt-bolt-opinion/ but nowhere else do I see it.... Go figure?

Rumors of adaptive cruise control? And more?

Some autoblog blog thing said that the 2019 Bolt had adaptive cruise and a way to set a lower top state of charge? True? Can we get these updates on earlier years?

    Trailer Hitch

Anybody come up with a slick solution for the trailer light wiring harness? There's infinite garbage on the internet that claims to work with any car from any planet, which probably means that none of them work... Thoughts or experiences on this subject? (´・(oo)・`)

    Hello from ChargePoint!

Any OCPP hardware? Halarious, because 3 weeks ago they were telling me about a "rip and replace" program where I could throw away the four perfectly good chargers I just bought to then turn around and buy theirs, which are probably fine hardware and all, but will be trash if they ever get bought...

    Hello from ChargePoint!

Nope, never implemented. Chargepoint won't work with my OCPP chargers at this time anyway. They only want to use their own hardware, which I get, and is fine, and I get it, plus they don't have OCPP but some proprietary protocol, which I get and is fine. But having owned my fair share of carrier...

Ok... Can't attach a file, can't delete the post. Bear with me, it's amusing.

    Cheap Ebay Chargers 32/40 amp

Man, a beefy charger like that sure would be nice, even for the current Bolt, the 10Kw CCS are almost pointless. When are the cheap eBay 10kw CCS units coming out?

    Hello from ChargePoint!

Hey Chargepoint! When are you guys gonna get the Delta AC Mini's certified for your network? I have four of them screwed to a wall, RFID enabled, powered and signed in and on WiFi in Los Angeles and all I need to do is enter the OCPP server addresses and credentials. Can I be your guinea pig...

    Cheap Ebay Chargers 32/40 amp

I don't own a Tesla, so I don't actively seek out destination chargers, but I have only seen two of them in the wild where there were no J plugs too. At the end of the day, I'm not a big fan of the non standard connector. I get why Tesla does it, and that's fine, but they all ship with J1772...

    GoFundMe-ing a fast charger?

How dumb / possible would it be to do something like a GoFundMe to get fast chargers put in places that people need them? Like... Utah, or bigger units in northern California? Or between LA and west? Would a charging company come out and do a matching fund?

EVgo DC chargers were horrible up until the beginning of 2018. They're still not perfect, but improvement is being made.

I have to say, since I started this thread, the EvGo fast chargers are certainly better than they were. Were they as reasonable as they are now, I probably wouldn't have made such a stink. Here's hoping they keep moving in the right direction.

    Cheap Ebay Chargers 32/40 amp

So has anybody definitively determined if you can simply CHOP THE TESLA PLUG off the UMC and install a J1772 plug? The TeslaTap is too small to have any intelligent circuitry in there, I'll bet $6 it just changes the shape of the plug, but does anybody have any proof to put in this pudding?

Remote Unlock Using the Chevy App--Know How to Use It

Yeah, also, if the FOB is in the car, it won't remote start either. Worst most pressing problem in our society: Not being able to remote start the AC in the car when the valet leaves the keys on the seat. The humanity!

    Attached Garage Air Conditioner

Only obvious tips... CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN! Don't let sand, dirt, etc get in the lines, make sure the connections / flares are nice, shiny and clean, and soapy-water test everything right after you release the refrigerant! And have two good adjustable wrenches handy to tighten any leaks out - One...
